COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Franciscos famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

UPDATED: MAR 25, 2004 Deep brown-black color, nice dark tan foamy, lasting head. Such a unique and full-bodied porter. Chocolate flavors with an incredible bittersweet, roasted malt finish and lingering hops. Thick and creamy. Quite satisfying.

Im also a big fan of Porters. To me this is one of the best domestic Porters made. Its overall presentation is is fairly aggressive and well balanced with a rich chocolate malt nose and flavor. Creamy mouthfeel with thick long-lasting head. Has somewhat of a port wine taste in the background similar to Sam Smiths Taddy Porter. Good stuff!

Really really good. As a self proclaimed porter man, this one definately makes my approved list.

Very good porter, not too sweet, just a little bitterness toward the end. A good beer for after dinner with a cigar.

Forgive me if I wasnt as impressed with this as Id hoped. Creamy, yes - well balanced bitterness, yes, but for some reason, the aftertaste did not agree with me. And I love porters, too. Perhaps Ill give this one another shot given all the hype...

Very nice porter, but so far nothing compares to my beloved Mocha Porter.

One of the best porters in existence. Its a tough call between this and Rogue Mocha Porter.
