COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Francisco’s famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Pours with a huge cream/tan colored, long-lasting head. Wonderful sweet chocolate aroma with hints of roasted malt. Medium bodied, smooth mouthfeel. Chocolate flavour to start with bitter roasted flavors to finish. A classic American porter.

A great porter - rich and creamy, even though it has a slightly oily mouthfeel. You want coffee? You got it - tons of it. Lots of depth of flavor. Did I mention I really like this porter?

Beautiful black color and a creamy head. Nice sweet/bitter balance. Drink on the slightly warmer side.

Once again the anchor brewing company has crafted another fine brew. I do not usually enjoy porters, but this was a pure pleasure to drink.

Normally, the description printed on a beer's label isn't worth the ink that was used to print it. Well, Anchor has delivered: 'The deep black color, the thick creamy head and the intensely rich flavor...have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality.' They hit the nail on the head. Opaque with a thick, creamy, tan head and delicious malt and chocolate flavor. Heavy and smooth like a stout, with a bitter, rich chocolate aftertaste hinting at yeast, which reminds me this is a porter and not a stout. Excellent.

Really good once it warmed up a bit. Had lots of nice malty chocolatey flavors. Dried my mouth out a bit too much though which i didnt care for.

At first this was terribly bitter, but then it warmed up alittle and all was well in the world. Enjoyable malty taste with slight hops foundation. Medium mouthfeel and a full, sharp taste.

I like to test porters by drinking them warm - just a quirk of mine, I guess - and this one holds up spectacularly. Creamy, spicy, a fine roasted feel.
