San Francisco’s famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Bottle. Pours midnight black with no head. Aroma of cold coffee, baking chocolate, amaretto, and Gran Mariner? Huh. Flavor of iced coffee, baking chocolate, skim milk. Aftertaste has long coffee bitterness, hazelnut, whole milk. Body is nice and thick, but is a bit sticky in the back of the throat as well. Yea, this is a bit bitter for my personal porter taste, but pretty darn good.

From bottle in porter glass. Pours near black with dense tan head and choc malt aroma that was modest at first but built as it warmed. Smooth with some treacle elements mixed in with the choc. Glad to finally find this online (Beer Store) and try side-by-side with Fullers

12 oz. bottle. Pours almost black with a creamy two-finger light beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee notes. Taste is roasted malt, coffee notes, bits of dark fruit. Finish is roasty and dry with very faint vinous notes. Very nice.

UPDATED: FEB 2, 2018 Gedronken met Peter, smaakt erg moutig, weinig hop, geroosterd, chocolade, redelijk bittere afdronk, goed in balans en heeft weinig specifieke smaken.

Pours an attractive black with a couple of fingers of dense mocha head that shows good retention and some lacing. A rather simple but clean and intense aroma shows roasted malts, slight coffee and vivid red fruits among a general soft feel. Taste is very much the same and maybe a bit less bright than the aroma suggested. Overall medium sweet and medium bitter with neither standing out, maybe a slight bitter edge in a quite dry finish. Light to medium bodied with light to medium carbonation resulting in a semi-creamy feel. Overall a well crafted porter with a bit less roasted malts than usual.

There are chocolate, roasted barley, caramel and prunes in aroma. Dark, opaque with brown head. Dark chocolate, roasted malt, high bitterness in dry finish. Medium body, medium carbonation.

UPDATED: JAN 27, 2018 Pivo u flaši. Slatkast miris više na čokoladu nego karamel. Okus slatkast opet čokoladast malo kave, srednje gaziran. Vrlo malo gorkast. Solidan Porter.

Bottle. Deep dark brown colour with a medium creamy tan head, nose is malty, roasty, smoky and hoppy with notes of dark toffee, whisky, coffee and overripe fruits, taste is sweet, fruity and roasty with a long dry finish and milk coffee in the aftertaste.

midovark (1181) - Budapest, HUNGARY - JAN 3, 2018
0.35 l bottle @ home. Pours pitch black with everlasting beige head. Nose is mainly sweet with distincitve notes of fruits, something that reminds me of truffle, some faint cinnamon and roasted malts. Basically the same notes appear in taste, wrapped in a beautiful creamy mouthfeel. Short to medium bittersweet finish (roasted notes and cocoa), light body and average carbo. Good one, full of flavours especially for a relaitvely low ABV.
