San Franciscos famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Had this many times, but I guess Ive never rated it. Deep brown pour with a creamy white head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee beans and cocoa powder. Good carbonation and creamy mouthfeel with flavors that mimic the aroma. Touch of a dry earthy finish. Great easy drinking Porter.

Nice malty flavour, but rather watery and one-dimensional. Dont really understand the hype around this one.

Bought this little cute bottle to try this legend. Nose of chocolate and caramel. Black with nice pale brown head. Mouth: sour, sweet, Podpiwek/kwas chlebowy, too carbonated, watery. Nice red fruits, plum. Little astringent and very sticky, coca-cola on tooth. Yes, sourness, carbonation and loads of caramel make me not appreciate this beer as much as I expected. I think Żywiec Porter is as little as 5% worse only. Probably fulfills all the style requirements, seems I like unusual porters than.

Pours black, beige head, lacing. Aroma of chocolat, sweet, sugary, roasted malts, licorice, touch of dark fruits. Taste is well balanced with sweetness and roasted malts, medium bitterness, dark chocolatate, licorice, some carameland dark fruits. Medium body, average carbonation, bitter finish.

Anchor Porter will always hold a special place in my life. From the time I was in high school, every Xmas eve my best friend and I would drink the Anchor Porters and Anchor Steams from his fathers fridge during our family parties. The smell of the porter and the vision of that label bring back wonderful memories. It is not the best porter that I have ever consumed, but it is the one I love the most.

Bottle. Black colour, creamy beige head with excellent duration. Aroma of chocolate, roasted coffee, some nuts. Taste is medium sweet and light to medium bitter, chocolate, nuts, coffee, light caramel and dark fruits, roasty with a bitter finish. Medium body and carbonation, smooth texture. Classic, very tasty, balanced and drinkable.

Dark red-brown with one finger beige-brown head. Aroma is roasted dark malts, chocolate, orange, light citrus and coffee beans. Taste is roasted malts, bitter coffee, dark chocolate, orange and a light uplifting citrus twist. Medium mouthfeel, light to medium carbonation and rich malty aftertaste with a hint of banana.

Dark colar color with a fluffy light brown head of foam. Intense and lush aromas and flavors of dark chocolate, roasted barley, and burnt caramel. Has a nutty edge to it as well. Very rich and satifying as a desset beer.

UPDATED: APR 1, 2017 Pours a beautiful, welcoming black with a massive dark beige head bubbling up and leaving ample lace. Nose is milk chocolate with a modest piney hop undertone. Tastes lovely, a wonderful throwback porter less obsessed with giant chocolate and roasted notes and more interested in a subtle, fruity character. Chocolate sweetness meets a cherry-laced gentle acidity, while a mild mocha backbone leads into a easygoing but dry fade. Textures to die for, creamy and smooth and begging for another sip. Just an all-around great anytime brew.
