COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Francisco’s famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

MuertosPorter (24) - California, USA - MAR 7, 2008
Pours a dark chocolate brown with a nice thick beige residual head. Rather lively carbonation on the palate. Unsweetened chocolate, dark roast coffee, burgundy, dried sweet plums. Medium body with some hop bitterness in the finish. Smooth and highly drinkable. Stands above the average porter, but does not quite emphasize its qualities to thoroughly entice the palate. - Very good.

Bottle. Opaque deep brown to black, moderate capuccino coloured head. The aroma is roasted malts, chicory, burnt cake, caramel, bread, dried fruit. Complex. Medium body. Soft carbo. Medium dry taste. Dark malts dominate. Fruit esters go along. Minor chicory, coffee, roast, light bitterness. Complex again. Very good.

355ml bottle. Quasi black colour with average to huge, thick, creamy, mostly lasting, moderately lacing, beige head. Slightly fruity and dark malty aroma, some chocolate, hints of plum. Taste is slightly roasty, chocolately dark malty, some malty spiciness, sweet-ish fruity hints of plum and morello; smooth, soft, silky palate.

Lots of caramel and chocolate in the aroma. Lovely creamy two finger off-white head. Jet black. Taste has loads of dark chocolate and toastiness, with a very slight hop bitterness on the finish. More than lived up to its high reputation. Very very nice beer.

rodsquad (226) - Aberdeen, SCOTLAND - JUN 6, 2017
Bottle from Fountainhall Wines Stonehaven. Aromas smooth coffee, sweet toffee, soft oak cask and plenty of chocolate. Flavour has a lovely coffee front, a soft earthiness that builds with a light smoky finish. A soft full body with a dry sharp sparkle. Lovely smooth tones with an earthy bitterness. A very fine dark smoky beer.

tanel025 (120) - ESTONIA - JUN 2, 2017
Dark brown beer with brown head. Aroma is yeast, slight chocolate. Taste is slightly sour, notes of cocoa, caramel, malt. Aftertaste is bitterness from roasted malt and some hops, also cocoa. Feels a bit watery. Very dry beer, medium bitterness. Overall a good beer, maybe needs some fine tuning.
