COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Francisco’s famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

It was voted number 1 porter at our local beer shop as voted by the patrons. Smells like chocolate cheesecake from Schlotsky's deli. Dark and rich. Slightly alkaline yet not bitter at all. Seemingly foamy going down yet very pleasing and smooth to swallow. Goes well with many foods. Being more food than drink, this one will fill you up. I recommend this beer highly.

Bottle. Deep dark brown colour with a medium creamy tan head, nose is malty, roasty, smoky and hoppy with notes of dark toffee, whisky, coffee and overripe fruits, taste is sweet, fruity and roasty with a long dry finish and milk coffee in the aftertaste.

0.35 l bottle @ home. Pours pitch black with everlasting beige head. Nose is mainly sweet with distincitve notes of fruits, something that reminds me of truffle, some faint cinnamon and roasted malts. Basically the same notes appear in taste, wrapped in a beautiful creamy mouthfeel. Short to medium bittersweet finish (roasted notes and cocoa), light body and average carbo. Good one, full of flavours especially for a relaitvely low ABV.

UPDATED: DEC 10, 2017 Jet black pour. It had a thin brown head when pored from the bottle. Smooth roast chocolate flavour. Slight bitterness in taste. Loved it

On sale at Beer Market La Louvière :: Californian classic Porter >> Très beau Porter savoureux.

Taste, sweet sugary hot chocolate with cream and cocoa. Overall, lovelybsweet wintery beer, maybe tad too light but awesome.

Lovely Porter big, huge mouthfeel, great finish, probably suffers a bit on price in the UK but an outstanding example of the type.

Porter Americana con matices de chocolate, regaliz y caf.En vista de marrn oscuro a casi negro .Paladar con entrada algo dulce, pero enseguida va a su ser con un amargo entre de las maltas y los lpulos. Algo astringente y con acidez en su punto

Bottle at home in Beer Hawk advent calendar. Perfect pour and a very handsome beer in the glass. The flavour was, as expected, all about those roasted and toasted malts with lots of biscuit and bitterness. It also had a very smooth mouthfeel that was given every assistance by the beer being served at the perfect temperature. A clinically well made porter that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Pours a very dark brown with a hint of red, and a dark tan head. Aroma is butterscotch, caramel, malt. Taste is a rather sweet up front, leading to a nice full, dark middle with some rasin, smoke, with a light bitterness on the end, that lingers. Medium to thin bodied, medium to low carbonation. Really good!
