Thin and only slightly hazy, this highly carbonated beer is light on the palate, a bit lemony, and very refreshing. I usually prefer the thicker, heartier American wheats, but this is a nice changeup, light on everything including alcohol. Vac (2445) - San Diego, California, USA - FEB 25, 2003
Pours with a clear golden body topped by a medium thick white sustaining head that leaves a good amount of lace. Slightly sweet malt aroma with a slightly lemony hop accent. Not a nose charateristic of a wheat beer. Sweet yet sour fruity (apple) flavor with lemony notes. Good but not characteristic of a wheat. Light bodied and tingling on the tongue from the carbonation. Faint sweet nose. Very clean dry taste.Would be fine on a hot day........... austinpowers (2831) - San Francisco, California, USA - DEC 4, 2002
Typical american wheat flavor, i.e. not all that wheaty. Sort of bummed me out b/c as I spied it on the shelf (in Chicago) I had delusions that it'd be tasty and be line a nice summer seasonal. It wasn't. Fairly dry and crisp with some hoppage. Looked good in the glass. SNIAT (120) - Passaic, New Jersey, USA - OCT 16, 2002
Is this a wheat beer? Tastes pretty good, but I wouldn't try it again. Good summer drinking beer, but not enough flavor for me.

Crisp and exceptionally clean. Only a hint of 'standard' wheatiness in the aroma; otherwise just rather plain. But a well-crafted, easy-drinking plain it is. Could be a wonderful starter wheat for a novice. Whatever the case, I've never seen this before; bought it at a tiny store in Deerfield, IL. Fit the bill on a hot summer day, after a couple of hours in the park with the kids. JPDIPSO (6287) - Wauwatosa, USA - JUL 5, 2002
Golden color with a tall long lasting head. Wheat malt and bittering hops aroma. Lifeless wheat malt/biscuit flavor that finishes overpoweringly bitter. Not a flavorful bitterness a caffine type bitterness. A honey type dry finish. Kathy (241) - Washington DC, USA - MAY 5, 2002
Anchor is a great brewery, and I love Anchor Steam. I was not, however, impressed by Anchor Wheat. The aroma and the flavor are both flat. The wheat is definitely there, but that's really all there is to it. There's not much flavor and not much of a finish. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - MAY 3, 2002
Faint sweet aroma, clean wheat flavor. It's nothing special, even a trifle light, but it's a good easy beer that'd taste great on a hot summer day.
