Not a terribly bad beer. A summer wheat beer. Not much to say about it, but it sure isn’t a bad one. Give it a try! Wheaty. humulus (339) - Salem, Missouri, USA - JUN 3, 2004
This is certainly a unique rendition of an american wheat, but not a satisfying one. The flavor is bland with mild sweetness and no complexity. Bitter hops, though not strong, dominate the palate and little else is detectable. It pours crystal clear and copper/yellow with a white head. Oddly it smells pretty good but fails to translate into flavor. I expect better from Anchor. Kathy (241) - Washington DC, USA - MAY 5, 2002
Anchor is a great brewery, and I love Anchor Steam. I was not, however, impressed by Anchor Wheat. The aroma and the flavor are both flat. The wheat is definitely there, but that’s really all there is to it. There’s not much flavor and not much of a finish. SNIAT (120) - Passaic, New Jersey, USA - OCT 16, 2002
Is this a wheat beer? Tastes pretty good, but I wouldn’t try it again. Good summer drinking beer, but not enough flavor for me. Guinnessman (102) - VACAVILLE, California, USA - FEB 20, 2008
I love this stuff. My local 19th hole got this as a mistake many years ago and I went back every night to get more. I am so bummed that Anchor is no longer producing this one as it is one of the best American-brewed Hefeweizens I’ve ever had. Good hearty flavor, rich texture, even better with a slice of orange floating on top.

A real disappointment. Quite an ordinary light ale.
