From bottle @ The Festival. Hazy caramel color with a low beige head and little to no lacing. Aroma is of cognac, wood, toffee, caramel, alcohol, vanilla and fruity notes. Taste is moderately to heavily sweet with cognac, wood, toffee, vanilla, caramel, fruits, alcohol and light bitterness. Full bodied. Low carbonation. Very complex. Too sweet, but it’s a 17,3% abv beer. With a little more carbonation, this could be great! Bulk_Carrier (6065) - Vermont, USA - NOV 29, 2014
Yes, I know this has a release date of December 2014, and I am having it in November, pays to live in Alaska.
This was poured into a snifter.
The appearance was dark brown color with a slim one finger white to slight off white somewhat foamy head that dissipated within a light lacing.
The smell was full of sweet darkened caramel boozy malt.
The taste had a full boozy sweet caramel malty flavor. There is a slight boozy sweet caramel aftertaste that lead to sweet yet dry finish.
On the palate, this sat about a medium to heavy on the body. I don’t mind the thickness on this beer - it’s a barleywine, it’s supposed to be this way. Boy, does this super smooth over my tongue.
Overall, well, Gabe Fletcher, yeah dude, you knocked this one outa the park. Lives up to its hype. Don’t pass up if you see it. Ernesto987 (6050) - Arizona, USA - OCT 7, 2015
HMMMM... didnt like this one, a dryed out with brett cognac barleywine doesnt work. Gritty brett flavors fight the sweet base of the barleywine, the cognac flavors seem misplaced. Off. I think its the first miss from these guys, too bad. Holmen1 (5874) - Stavanger, NORWAY - MAY 14, 2013
Fra fat på CBC mai-13: barley wine er godterier for greie gutter, og denne er intet unntak. Brun ravfarge, klar og fin med beige skum. Så kommer aromaen opp og jeg greier ikke vente lenger. Barley wine lagret på cognacfat, ah so smooth. I toppsjiktet denne kvelden.

75cl, Batch 1, new exclusive American brew Anno 2013, thx alot to Secret Santa!, very complex brew, alcoholic/fruity and slightly woody/sweet, yet not too heavy, balanced, cloudy, small head, very good brew, yet very expensive!, WOW! jkwood04 (5448) - Connecticut, USA - APR 5, 2015
750ml bottle at Split thy Skull barley wine fest. Pours deep brown with a beige head. Aroma of toffee, bourbon and oak and vanilla, light bitterness, some caramel and sweet malts, and some faint notes of alcohol. Flavor the same with a really nice blend of the beer and barrel and hidden alcohol. Smooth, thicker texture. A really cool barley wine. Bragesnak (5394) - Aarhus, DENMARK - MAY 22, 2013
