Bottle for bday from dan. Pours is super Amber, cloudy. Aroma is super dark fruits, sweet, smooth. Taste is sweet, smooth, boozy, but no burn. I would never guess the abv, it is super well hidden. This is really good barleywines.

simont1 (602) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - AUG 12, 2016
Aroma of apple must, ice cider, grapes, vanilla, calvados, butterscotch, caramel, oak and leather. Murky brown with a fast disappearing head. Taste is met with huge flavors of apple, caramel, brown butter, brown bread, licorice, vanilla, light cinnamon with a general nuttiness to it. Big powerful flavors that are very well mellowed out together. Drinks like a 11% barley wine, incredibly smooth and well balanced.

Tap @ CBC 2013.
Pours lovely chestnut brown with a small, creamy film head. Aroma is sweet, nutty, toasted, vinious, port, oak, raisins and plums. Low carbonation, lovely dry and oily mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet, light sticky caramel, oak, sherry, plums, apples. Warming but never sharp. Exqusite balance.

Tap at Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2013 - Session 1. Pours dark amber with a creamy, yellow-beige head. Nose of caramel, dates, figs and toasted bread. Big sweet flavor with moderate bitter earth, leaves, rich and nicely toasted sugars, sweet bread, raisins and other ripe berries. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish (much, much less than you would expect given the ABV) with rich, darkened sugars, some bitter burnt toast, lots of ripe fruits. Great beer. One of the festivals best.

Bottle at the Bier Stein. Pours an ominous-looking brown-black. No head to speak of. Aroma positively massive, LOTS of booze, raisins, candi sugar. Very nice, on par with Sucuba, etc. Body is positively viscous, like syrup. Finish surprisingly smooth, just the barest sip lingers forever. Glad to have had this one.
