Nice and smooth
Bottle at City Beer. Nose is a strong malty, boozy, vanilla combo. Very much reminds me of Thomas Hardy. Seems to be a bit oxidized with a vinous character. Like fruit roll ups sort of. Pour is a murky brown. Minimal off white head. Taste is straight amaze-balls! A moderate vanilla and cream character up front. Strong fruitiness after that. A lot of cherry. Just a wonderful malt, bready taste rounded off with a sticky sweet character. Oxidation doesn’t really come across on the palate. Medium mouthfeel but a bit low of carbonation. Not flat but close. Just a light his when the cork came out. Leaves a sticky sweetness on the lips. Definitely a bit of boost in the finish. A light warming in the ears, but doesn’t seem 17%. Well made on that aspect. A wonderful delight. TURDFERGUSON (4068) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - FEB 8, 2015
batch 2 bottle. thanks ww. this was a very yummy barley wine. lots of nuanced dark fruit, and cognac flavors opened up as this beer gradually warmed up in my snifter over the course of 40 mins or so. fairly rich, but not overly so, melted toffee and caramel malts. medium to thick mouthfeel. a pleasure to drink. Bottle for bday from dan. Pours is super Amber, cloudy. Aroma is super dark fruits, sweet, smooth. Taste is sweet, smooth, boozy, but no burn. I would never guess the abv, it is super well hidden. This is really good barleywines. simont1 (622) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - AUG 12, 2016
Aroma of apple must, ice cider, grapes, vanilla, calvados, butterscotch, caramel, oak and leather. Murky brown with a fast disappearing head. Taste is met with huge flavors of apple, caramel, brown butter, brown bread, licorice, vanilla, light cinnamon with a general nuttiness to it. Big powerful flavors that are very well mellowed out together. Drinks like a 11% barley wine, incredibly smooth and well balanced. Nische (2661) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - NOV 18, 2017
