Pours dark reddish with a tiny head. Aroma of tart notes, hints of wood, oak and malts. Taste is smooth, malty and wooden with hints of syrup, oak, cognac and vanilla. Finish is malty and warming with loads of wooden oak notes, hints of tartness. Nice, quite balanced and tasty barley wine.

Pours lovely chestnut brown with a small, creamy film head. Aroma is sweet, nutty, toasted, vinious, port, oak, raisins and plums. Low carbonation, lovely dry and oily mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet, light sticky caramel, oak, sherry, plums, apples. Warming but never sharp. Exqusite balance.
Tap at Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2013 - Session 1. Pours dark amber with a creamy, yellow-beige head. Nose of caramel, dates, figs and toasted bread. Big sweet flavor with moderate bitter earth, leaves, rich and nicely toasted sugars, sweet bread, raisins and other ripe berries. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish (much, much less than you would expect given the ABV) with rich, darkened sugars, some bitter burnt toast, lots of ripe fruits. Great beer. One of the festival’s best. Sample at CBC 2013. Clear dark brown with a medium sized good lacing beige head. Rum soaked raisins, sherry, oak ,sweet malty. Taste is heavy sweet and medium bitter. Full body, syrupy texture, soft carbonation.

Bottle at the Bier Stein. Pours an ominous-looking brown-black. No head to speak of. Aroma positively massive, LOTS of booze, raisins, candi sugar. Very nice, on par with Sucuba, etc. Body is positively viscous, like syrup. Finish surprisingly smooth, just the barest sip lingers forever. Glad to have had this one. Pour from bottle at What the Funk!? 2014. Appearance is glowing caramel with no head - good alcohol legs. Big fig, oak, raisins, chocolatey, caramel, rich brown sugar, toffee, candi sugar, and brandy in the aroma. Smells amazing. Taste is rich plum, wood, bourbon, grapey, caramel, brown sugar, cognac, and vanilla with no signs of the high ABV. Slick mouthfeel with soft cabronation. Such a rich and beautifully executed beer. 750 ml bottle to taster. Looks good; semi-transparent hazelnut brown with khaki head that steadily dissipates into thin lacing. Smells good too; sweet and malty (but not cloying) with a nice cognac presence. Tastes like it smells with a great mouthfeel that drinks more like 8% than almost 18%. Some mild hops in there too. Very complex for the simplicity of its malt and hop bill. Excellent beer!
