4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Festival 2013, what a treat this was. The ABV is well-hidden, excellent cognac character percolates throughout the entire beer while still allowing a really cool English barley wine to show through. Sweet but extremely drinkable for a sweet, 17% abv beer. Remarkable.
Bottle shared by wickedestman, many thanks! Batch 2. Dark reddish amber with no head. Caramel, boozy raisins, dark, burnt sugar, some wood. Massive and full, but super smooth and balanced. Hides booze so well. JK (6289) - St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA - JUL 22, 2017
Dark color. Lots of caramel and sugar. Alcohol is there in the aorma and on the palate, and it is certainly one of the strongest beers I have had. Some brandy flavor as well, which works very well with the sweet barleywine. Rich and heavy palate. Excellent beer. skortila (5985) - Baarn, NETHERLANDS - JUN 28, 2017
On tap at cbc. Old note. The aroma has caramel, booze, red wine, dried fruit. Dark red coloured beer with an off-white head. The taste is sweet with some bitterness, has cognac, caramel, figs. Full bodied beer. Very pleasant. sudomorph (1190) - Barrie, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 24, 2017
Batch #2 2014 bottle.
Pours a clear garnet with a half a finger of tan head that thins to a film.
Aroma has smooth notes of spirit barrel, wood spice, dark fruits, and caramel.
Taste is sweet but not cloying. Caramel, toffee, dark fruits, wood spice, hints of red wine, and a drawn out, cognac ending.
Full body with medium carbonation. Syrupy in the mouth with a big, full mouth feel.
Overall this is fantastic. I haven’t had it fresh but I’d saw it was aged perfectly. Big dark fruit, raisins, caramel, toffee, and a smooth undertone of cognac barrel. gopherfan99 (2012) - Minnesota, USA - JUN 14, 2017

Bomber shared at tasting. Caramel pour. Aroma is super sweet, cognac, booze. Taste follows, this is a monster, super sweet and boozy, but very smooth. The hype is real! deyholla (12228) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JUN 10, 2017
Bottle thanks to SHIG! Pours a near clear copper with a slight ruby hue and a yellowish tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a strong caramel and cognac with toffee and a bit of booze underlying. Flavor is full caramel and toffee with a good amount of boozy cognac supporting. Bomber shared- thanks! Murky reddish orange pour with minor head. Sweet caramel, sticky sweet and boozy. And delicious. Yummy! anstei (2608) - Zurich, SWITZERLAND - MAY 20, 2017
Bottle, vintage dec/2014. Pours dark brown. Aroma is boozy, floral, caramel, nuts. Body is heavy, sweet, sticky. Honey, booze, flowers. Palate is very sweet and long, super warming. Good! thepatrickman (1502) - Lewes, East Sussex, ENGLAND - APR 5, 2017
Batch 2 (2014). The heat on this has completely faded away, and it is smooth, flavorful, and extremely, extremely sweet. It smells like stewed fruits and caramel, and it tastes like sugar-coated fruit cake. Deceptively sweet, like Beelzebub himself.
