Pours a clear golden yellow with a small frothy white top. Aroma is grassy grains and a little sweet honey of the malts. Taste is a great array of grassy grains and a little sweetness from the malt. A nice light quaffable beer.

Foerdifuxx (364) - Franconia, GERMANY - JUL 21, 2017
Clear golden beer with a medium sized, creme coloured, medim to good lasting head. Aromas of popcorn, cereal, bit yeasty, floral hops, grassy hops. Taste is medium to heavy sweet, pale malty with heavy caramel, light suggary with some hoppy bitterness towards finish. Some alcohole. Oily texture, medium body, soft carbonation. Too sweet for my taste.

DAA; Drunk at Majavatn, take away from Bad Segeberg. Bottle 0,5l. Pours large, hazy gold with a creamy, lasting and lacing tan head. Nose is moderate, malt, light honey, grass and spice. Taste is moderate sweet and bitter with a somewhat lasting sweet malt finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

At the source, 16/07/17. Clear golden with a well appointed off white head. Nose is caramel, sweet notes, grains, light honeysuckle, grass. Taste comprises sweet malts, toasted popcorn, hint of vanilla, straw, toasted grains. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a light boozy tickle. Decent enough offering ... doesn’t deliver too much depth for the ABV but an easy drinker.

Mild, meget lidt sur i det, let bitter i eftersmagen, og lys (ja hell) i det. Ikke noget specielt , men en god tørstslukker.

Draught at Deep Ellum, 5/5/17.
Clear, bright golden-beeswax with a medium-sized white head showing moderate retention.
Rich malt notes in the nose range from well-extracted honey via Pils malt, while stronger notes of freshly baked baguette and very light sourdough notes add more layers and richness to the malty nose. Not a complete one-sided malt bomb, however, as peppery and herbal hop notes, light but fragrant for what they are, help restore some balance. There is some of the mineral, almost wine-like house character I’ve noted in their other beers and it does contribute some "dryness", as well, helping to further offset the malt; but this certainly remains a malt-dominated beer, as it should. No alcohol or flaw.
Rich honey and sweet bread in the mouth with low but fairly engaging carbonation helps to disperse the sweetness somewhat. Light bitterness from the hops with floral and herbal notes that work well against the pale malts. Light plaster and other mineral notes with gentle acidity on the finish (not hop-driven, most likely toasted malts). It’s malty, sweet and rich, but still has enough balance to keep it from seeming cloying or overly sugary, I think. Maybe not quite the finesse and elegance of some of their other beers, but it doesn’t have the dark malts that the doppelbock has to dry it out as much, so I think inherently suffers a bit. I sadly haven’t had very many true heller bocks, so my critique is quite uninformed. But for a malty beer, I quite enjoyed it.

Sweet grain and cereal malts, caramel, molasses, straw, hay, light smoked flavours. Clear gold, medium, creamy, white head. Light sweet. More sweet grain and cereal malts, molasses, caramel, sought carbonation, medium bodied. Nice Heller Bock, sweet and satisfying, one-dimensional, but that was completely expected. Bottle from Drinks of the World, Bern.

500 ml bottle. Pours with a bright golden color and a very nice white head. The nose is slightly sweet, with cereals and hay. Yeasty. Taste is sweet, some strawy malt, caramel, some bananas-yeasty. Sweet finish.

Mortlach (2347) - Rome, ITALY - APR 9, 2017
On tap @Birrifugio Trastevere (Rome). Dorata viva, limpidissima, schiuma media non molto persistente. Al naso note di miele, fieno, pasta lievita. In bocca è sbilanciata sul malto, dolce, con luppolatura quasi impercettibile. Corpo medio, carbonazione media. Stanca già dopo qualche sorso.

500 ml bottle served in mug. Golden colour. Grain and hay malt aroma. Sweet taste with a bitter hint. Alcoholic taste not that dominant. Nice palate, very easy to drink for a Bock beer. Carbonation soft. Bittersweet finish. Not bad.
