COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is it! The powerful, full-bodied, strong beer which is Andechs’s trademark. Brewed in the traditional Triple Mash procedure and available throughout the year, not just during the "Starkbierzeit"!

When the evening passes into dusk and the day draws to a close, time goes a little slower. Just the right time for a glass of Andechser Doppelbock Dunkel. Andechser Doppelbock Dunkel – mouthcoating, velvety, strong This world famous bock from Bavaria’s Holy Mountain is not meant to be rushed, but savoured slowly. As solid as a rock, Andechser Doppelbock Dunkel presides over the evening meal with a colour reminiscent of dark copper with nuances of fiery red. Its clear gleaming look harmonises with its firm, fine pored head. Also the aroma delights the connoisseur: soft roasted accents and a nuance of dried fruit carrying a vein of caramel. This Doppelbock Dunkel from Bavaria’s Holy Mountain presents a pleasant effervescence. And then there’s the unmistakable flavour: mouthcoating and velvety, strong and yet pleasantly malty – a powerful, robust body. At the same time, it develops an easily recognisable sweetness, embraced in roasted cocoa and a light, bitter hoppiness. Concluding with a powerful punch, this Doppelbock departs with a lingering aftertaste of quality plain chocolate. A strong Doppelbock that embodies the centuries old Benedictine brewing tradition, sip by delicious sip (original extract: 18.5%, abv: over 7.1%).

Pours very dark brown, with a red glow. Small white head. Smell is very unintense, mild caramelyness. Taste is full, toasty ( very toasty ) caramel, some chocolate, very mild bitterness. Rich maltyness. Very complex, even some coffee. Medium to medium thick body, medium low to low carbo. Very enjoyable. Easy drinker, regardless of the ABV. If only the scent was somewhat more intense...

Half liter bottle poured dark copper into a half liter dimpled mug. Lasting beige head with lively carbonation. Aroma of sweet malt and dried fruit. Medium body that is a little dry. Perfect amount of hop bitterness to offset the additional malt bill. One of the best doppelbock's in the world.

Jörg leverans, flaska. Fint skum. Växer mörk färg med fruktig russinarom. Fin smak från frisk spritzig pärlande till fyllig mäktig smak när den är lite varmare. Underbar på vintern

I've been waiting years to try this one, so pleased to finally just see it on the shelves, and now I wanna go back and get more because this one is definitely everything its cracked up to be. Dark brown color, nearly opaque. Nose is definite with raisins, flavor similar, with a lighter chocolate toffee element, but this beer is not otherwise very sweet, semi-dry, definitely unlike other doppelbocks I've had.

On tap at the brewery. Also from a bottle from Total Wine. Andechs is the third place i visit when in Bavaria after convenient stops at Hofbrauhaus and Lowenbrau Haus. This doppelbock is phenomenal. Close behind it is their Weissbier Dunkel.

FROTHINGSLOSH (8291) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 16, 2017
Sampled from a 16 oz dark brown color with a huge creamy-soapy dark tan head that lingered forever and left decent lacing. The aroma was sweet and malty with molasses, sugar and a vegetal note. The flavor was molasses, cherry, raisin, toffee and bread crust. Medium length finish. Moderately full bodied and smooth. Solid.

500ml bottle (thanks martjoobolut). Clear chestnut color. Small size, off-white head, stays. Spicy hops, caramel, sweet in aroma. Sweet, bready, malty, sweet, caramel in taste. Massive amount of bread in aftertaste. Medium carbonation. I love the breadiness. Covers alcohol well. Solid brew.
