Beautiful red brown body, off white creamy head; Elegant malty bitter fresh nose; Balanced bitter body, huge carbonation, elegant; Long fresh malty bitter finish. Great well made and very drinkable. awaisanen (1310) - Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 31, 2007
From a 500mL Bottle. Transparent mahogany colored pour with some ruddy overtones and a thin layer of creamy tan foam. Some clean, straight forward aromas of raisins and a soft prune fruitiness mingle with some mild cocoa powders. Simple, but elegant. Light bodied, crisply carbonated mouthfeel. Some nice dry, borderline woody characters accompanies some toasted brazil nut husks and more light chocolate on the palate. Clean, satisfyingly refreshing finish. Pours a clear light chestnut color with a khaki head. Clean aroma, a very faint hint of dark spices. Thick, accomodating palate. Nice rich wheat character that was robust but not too heavy. Crisp dry finish. boboski (1095) - Alabama, USA - JUL 21, 2007
Tall, cavernous, thick light beige head. Clear teak body, more browns than reds. The head, which looks like sea foam with sand in it, fades slowly and leaves thick lacing behind. The aroma is a pleasant combination of dusty cocoa and caramel malt, followed by medium toasted grain, leather and grassiness. Excellent nose, true to style and enticing. The flavor introduces additions of pepper and pear. Toastiness mostly covers bitterness and meshes well with caramel malt. Light chocolate and spice in the flavor. Finishes soft, lightly bitter, dusty. Mouthfeel is adequately carbonated and just shy of medium bodied, lightly prickly. Satisfying. mgumby10 (1856) - Jupiter, Florida, USA - JUL 21, 2007
Pours relatively clear, maroon red, with a medium off white head. Smells of toasted malts, caramel, and dark fruits. Kind of warm and roasty smelling. Nice flavor, sweet malts, caramel, a little roast. Slight bitterness was masked quite nicely by the sweetness. Balanced pretty well. The finish is sweet with a somewhat dry mouthfeel. The aftertaste is of caramel malts. Not a bad dunkel.

Tap at Andechs near the Munich Dom 0.5ltr: Not so good as his Helles brother. Amber coloured beer with roasted malts taste. Dedollewaitor (16543) - Odense, DENMARK - JUL 13, 2007
Amber color with a fast disappearing white head. Malty caramel aroma. Metallic & malty flavor. A lot of corn also. No lacings. Light to thin body. Not impressed! Beese (3289) - Watford, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - JUL 9, 2007
Pours a copper colour, quite pale for a dunkel (at least in my expieriance). A sweet aroma but an almost salty, quite smokey flavour. Quite different from any other beer I’ve tried. oh6gdx (26485) - Vasa, FINLAND - JUN 28, 2007
