Nose is cocoa, dark fruits, rich caramel, kinda thomas-hardys esque. Flavor is cocoa & caramel, a hint of bitterness.

Bottle. Thanks for sharing Chris! Aroma percolate of soft, supple caramel and toaste german malts. Plenty of earthy sugars, yet subdued in a lager fashion. Sweet. Clear mahogany with gold edges and a rim of off-white. A well, attenuated dunkel, brimming with woody grain sugars, baked cookies, light chocolates and toothy candy. A bit of peaches, plums and sweet sheeting. There’s some sense of flavor reduction through heavy filtering.

[bottle] Toasted malt aroma with a touch of butterscotch and some floral hops. Some tobacco/raisin in there as well. Clear, darkish amber with a lasting, off-white cover that left little patches of foam on the walls. Nice toasty flavour reminiscent of an altbier, but with a bit more nutty. Subdued hops in the flavour, which I like in this style. Light to medium body with medium carbonation and a nuttly finish.

UPDATED: NOV 14, 2007 Bottled. A clear red/brown beer with a medium sized and persistent beige head. the aroma is malty, nutty and caramellish with toasted notes and some herbal hops. The flavour is quite powerful and very malty. There are the usual notes of nut, caramel and toasted bread, perfectly balanced by a more than decent herbal hoppiness in the final. medium body, but fuller than I first remebered, average to lively carbonation, very little acidity, quite long aftertaste. The bitterness is higher than your average dunkel. Probably the best beer I have tried in this style together with the Ayinger’s one. An excellent beer, has all you can ask in a dunkel.

Bottle. Brown color with a large creamy good lacing off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. A rather good, and refreshing, dunkel.
