Pours relatively clear, maroon red, with a medium off white head. Smells of toasted malts, caramel, and dark fruits. Kind of warm and roasty smelling. Nice flavor, sweet malts, caramel, a little roast. Slight bitterness was masked quite nicely by the sweetness. Balanced pretty well. The finish is sweet with a somewhat dry mouthfeel. The aftertaste is of caramel malts. Not a bad dunkel.

A very well beer, lots of malty taste, maybe to sweet? Malty, bread, roasted chocolate, caramel.

Tap at Andechs near the Munich Dom 0.5ltr: Not so good as his Helles brother. Amber coloured beer with roasted malts taste.

Amber color with a fast disappearing white head. Malty caramel aroma. Metallic & malty flavor. A lot of corn also. No lacings. Light to thin body. Not impressed!

Pours a copper colour, quite pale for a dunkel (at least in my expieriance). A sweet aroma but an almost salty, quite smokey flavour. Quite different from any other beer I’ve tried.

Bottled (thanks DerDoppelbock). Amberish brown colour with small beige head. Aroma is sweet malts, along with some fudge and fruits Flavour is roasted malts, some sweet candyish notes as well as a caramelly note in the background.

(50 cl bottle) Clear brown color, tan head. Sweet malty scent, slightly fruity. Roasted malt and fruity taste. Medium mouthfeel and bitterness.

Nose is cocoa, dark fruits, rich caramel, kinda thomas-hardys esque. Flavor is cocoa & caramel, a hint of bitterness.

Bottle. Thanks for sharing Chris! Aroma percolate of soft, supple caramel and toaste german malts. Plenty of earthy sugars, yet subdued in a lager fashion. Sweet. Clear mahogany with gold edges and a rim of off-white. A well, attenuated dunkel, brimming with woody grain sugars, baked cookies, light chocolates and toothy candy. A bit of peaches, plums and sweet sheeting. There’s some sense of flavor reduction through heavy filtering.

Bottle. Small white head. Clear red brown body. Caramel honey aroma. Thin caramel hops flavor. Heavily carboneted. Short hops aftertaste.
