COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly known as Andechser Weissbier Hefetrb.

When summer is on the way and the days invite you to swim, ramble, climb, or simply enjoy the outdoors, you will discover that an Andechser Weissbier Hell is just the right thing to quench your thirst. Since Saint Josephs Day on 19 March 1993, Andechs Weissbier Hell has found many new friends. Untreated and bottled in its natural state of yeasty turbidity, this is a top fermented beer for the epicure. Its light honey colour makes it an immediate eyecatcher. Then theres the opalescence and fine structure of the yeast turbidity. At the same time, the creamy, fine pored head invites you to get to know this light Weissbier from the Holy Mountain. Youll need two takes to enjoy the aromas to the full. First, distinctive fruity aromas like banana and honeydew melon come to the fore, followed by fine cloves. Andechser Weissbier Hell is a very tangy, refreshing treat with the conviction of a full, soft body. It concludes on a finely balanced interplay of light sweet honey and a delicate acidity with undertones of bitter hoppiness that quickly subside into a harmonious aftertaste. A Weissbier that embodies a slice of the Andechs lifestyle: finely yeasty, tangy, and sparkling, it refreshes and renews the thirst for more (original extract: 12.5%; abv: 5.5%).

500 ml bottle, no dating that I was able to find on it. Back label is stamped with L 1035. Served in a weizen glass, the beer pours a hazy gold color with about an inch and a half that stuck around for a long time. Theres also a good amount of lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like cloves, bananas, and wheat/grainy malt. For the most part I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but theres also some bubblegum and a little bit of lemon peel noticable. Mouthfeel/body is medium, its creamy with a good amount of carbonation. I thought this was a good hefeweizen, Id buy this one again. Certainly worth a try! $3.49 a bottle.

Aus der Flasche. Orange trbe Farbe, sehr schner heller fester Schaum. Getreidiger Hefeduft. Angenehm reduzierte Kohlensure. Herb getreidig im Antrunk. Dann Hefe und Ssse. Etwas alkoholisch. Sanft bitteres Finish. Klassisches Weizenbier.

Pours a hazy yellow colour with a big compact head. Aroma of banana, cloves and citrus (less than usual for the style). Medium body, fizzy carbonation with bubbles coming up all the time. Taste of banana, cloves and citrus.

Pour is a cloudy yellow with a huge white head. Aroma is typical hefe. Banana and clove with wheat malt base and maybe even some vanilla. Flavor is a little on the thin side with the banana and clove being the main thing I detect. A bit of metal toward the end which was kind of weird. Typical but thin German hefe.

Flasche - goldgelb mit dicker Schaumkrone. Sehr gut abgestimmtes Weizen, wenig nervige bananige Noten, allerdings sticht auch sonst kaum etwas richtig heraus. Gewrzig. Durchaus ein gutes Weizen, aber mit 96 hier hart overrated, wie praktisch alle deutschen Biere, die in den USA verkauft werden.

This was poured into a weizen glass. The appearance was a hazy/cloudy burnt orange color with a thick rocky/foamy white head that took its time to dissipate. Rough messy lacing. The smell started off with the spicy clove up front and then the sweet banana esters, slightly earthy, subtle biscuit. The taste wrapped together all of the previously mentioned flavors with the sweet breadiness lingering into the spicy clove in the aftertaste nicely. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium in body. Spices hit with a gentle harshness on my tongue. Overall, damn, what a nice hefeweizen. Definitely would have again.
