COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly known as Andechser Weissbier Hefetrüb.

When summer is on the way and the days invite you to swim, ramble, climb, or simply enjoy the outdoors, you will discover that an Andechser Weissbier Hell is just the right thing to quench your thirst. Since Saint Joseph’s Day on 19 March 1993, Andechs Weissbier Hell has found many new friends. Untreated and bottled in its natural state of yeasty turbidity, this is a top fermented beer for the epicure. Its light honey colour makes it an immediate eyecatcher. Then there’s the opalescence and fine structure of the yeast turbidity. At the same time, the creamy, fine pored head invites you to get to know this light Weissbier from the Holy Mountain. You’ll need two takes to enjoy the aromas to the full. First, distinctive fruity aromas like banana and honeydew melon come to the fore, followed by fine cloves. Andechser Weissbier Hell is a very tangy, refreshing treat with the conviction of a full, soft body. It concludes on a finely balanced interplay of light sweet honey and a delicate acidity with undertones of bitter hoppiness that quickly subside into a harmonious aftertaste. A Weissbier that embodies a slice of the Andechs lifestyle: finely yeasty, tangy, and sparkling, it refreshes and renews the thirst for more (original extract: 12.5%; abv: 5.5%).

Bottle. Poursa hazy yellow with a big white head. Banana, lots of cloves and allspice, nutmeg, vanilla, dough, more banana and light honey melon. Medium sweetness, tangy, lightly bitter. Full, creamy body with lovely, pearly carbonation. Good Hefeweizen. Rather sweet and creamy, very clean and well balanced.

500ml bottle in Bavaria Brahaus, Glasgow(£4.90):
Quite a nice wheat beer throughout, the nose in particular being a highlight for me but the taste wasn’t too bad either. There was a nice sweetness from the start & the banana flavours definitely dominated but some citrus & faint spice helped with the balance, as did the touches of bitterness lightly dotted about the place. It was an easy beer to drink & one I’d happily have again despite there being better of the style out there.

Cloudy soft gold, more than 3 fingers of meringue on the top. Nose, though dampened by the head, is banana and yeast. Middle is soft fruit and melon, sweet wheat, and a touch of spice. Finish dries a little, and leaves a soft coating in the tongue.
