Poured black as night, small tan head with good lacing, aroma of malts, chocolate, coffee and some bitter. Oh, that tastes good. Coffee, roasted chocolate malts, a bit bitter, a bit sweet. There is a slightly sour after taste that is not unpleasant. This was a treat, thanx, Rich.

Pours dark brwon with a little tan head and some thing lacing. Smells of malts, sweet, chocolate and a roasted smell as well. Suprisingly a bit bitter at first for such a sweet smell, then sweet taste takes over and leaves a thick coating of with a long lasting aftertaste that has a bit of a bad end to it.

hotstuff (5077) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - JAN 26, 2005
Bottle. Small tan head that completely diminished, sparse lacing, fine-medium sized bubbles, very little carbonation, opaque, and a dark brown hue. Aroma was malty, roasty, burnt, chocolate, coffee, and sweet. The flavor was sweet, malty, burnt, roasty, coffeeish. Smooth palate.

Deep dark brown, tan head. Roasty aroma, slight hop. Roasty light flavorwith some bitterness from the roasted barley, some from hops. Slight tartness. Thought the malt character was slightly watery. Not bad overall.

Pours opaque black except for some red hues at the bottom. Thick tan head slowly disipated. Chocolate, oatmeal, cereal aroma. Meaty, pretty thick stuff. Minerals and herbal licorice notes. Coffee and very even roasted cookie malts. Finish is long and toasty.

UPDATED: JAN 20, 2007 Roasted malts, burnt cereal, chocolate, grapes and licorice in the nose. Opaque darkest brown with small-bubbled, dense tan head that recedes to cover. Initial fairly sweet chocolatey flavour is joined by a strong roasted malt flavour and bitterness with notes of anis in the long-lasting aftertaste. Medium-full body has nice effervescence and is engaging in the mouth. What a pleasant holiday surprise! Bottle. *

Nice creamy head from the pour. Head didnt last long. Nice aroma of the barley and outs. Body was dark and usually I dont care to much for really dark beers but this one went down good with little aftertaste.

Didnt really seem like a "sweet" stout, but very good never-the-less. Pours a pitch black body, with a small dark tan head. Decent roasted coffee, malty slight chocolate scents. Good thick, malty mouthfeel. Full of roasted coffee malts. Slight bitter, vanilla aftertaste. Good stout.
