12oz - Not a lot to smell here. What is there is a bit of oatmeal and malt with a touch of chocolate. Black, initially had a nice brown head that quickly faded. Slight lacing. Flavor is carmel, malt, oatmeal. chocolate. Palate does linger as it should. Overall a good drinking stout but nothing to write home about. wunderbier (1434) - Tampere, FINLAND - MAR 7, 2005
Roasty with oats…smoke penetrates. Sandalwood? Black body with red edges. Moderately sweet up front with a lightly sweet and roasty finish. Medium body, watery texture, average carbonation. The bottom line is: note quite as good as some of their other offerings. shameusburp (171) - Virginia, USA - MAR 3, 2005
Decent Oatmeal stout. Smells like dog food coming out of the bottle but a good balanced stout from Cali. badgerben (5181) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - MAR 3, 2005
Black color with a medium head. Small amount of malt in the aroma. Is that banana as well? Kind of plain and watery with a grainy taste. It’s missing all of the goodness of a stout: malts, roasted malts, coffee... anything.

This is a classy brew. Some beers pander to one feature or another. This one offers a lot of sensations, nicely balanced. It’s classic opaque, chocolate in color with dark frothy head. Deep roasted aromas. Flavor is complex - starts slightly sweet then adds a hint of bitter - they’re both present at the finish. A little bit expresso, a hint of cocoa. a touch of treacle, and something else, maybe a whisper of pine. Full bodied texture on tongue. This one’s a treat. Very dark with a creamy tan-colored head. Bittersweet chocolate and pine aromas. Oily, chewy texture with flavors of rich sweet chocolate. Smooth, delicately bitter finish. Pretty good and easy to drink. Lou18 (1353) - West Paterson, New Jersey, USA - FEB 13, 2005
Poured black as night, small tan head with good lacing, aroma of malts, chocolate, coffee and some bitter. Oh, that tastes good. Coffee, roasted chocolate malts, a bit bitter, a bit sweet. There is a slightly sour after taste that is not unpleasant. This was a treat, thanx, Rich. DrunkenWeasel (224) - Portland, Oregon, USA - FEB 10, 2005
Pours dark brwon with a little tan head and some thing lacing. Smells of malts, sweet, chocolate and a roasted smell as well. Suprisingly a bit bitter at first for such a sweet smell, then sweet taste takes over and leaves a thick coating of with a long lasting aftertaste that has a bit of a bad end to it. hotstuff (5158) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - JAN 26, 2005
Bottle. Small tan head that completely diminished, sparse lacing, fine-medium sized bubbles, very little carbonation, opaque, and a dark brown hue. Aroma was malty, roasty, burnt, chocolate, coffee, and sweet. The flavor was sweet, malty, burnt, roasty, coffeeish. Smooth palate.
