Been looking forward to this one b/c the guy in MarCellars highly recommended it. Almost black color. Big tan head. Sweet chocolatey aroma. Big chocolate flavor. Very good creamy palate. Great sipping beer. Excellent beer all around. I brought back a bunch of beer from WY and ID but this is the one I most wish I could get regularily. Perfect in my mind. Bought a 22oz bottle to rate it. Opens to a roasted smell, slightly sweet, burnt smell of sugar. Pours a heavy black colour. Huge tan head that rises slowly and bursts with smells of burnt grains, alcohol and hints of nutmeg and rosy hops. I sipped and lapped some of the foam before it edged over my mug and it was bitter sweet with a roasted back bone. (BTW, the bottle says to serve between 52 and 58*F... mine is a nice 56...) Beer is so dense that light cannot pass thru it. Head mellows to a heavy layer of tan and brown lace. Body is rich and satisfying... bittering hops are hard to distinguish from the malt. Creamy sweetness interrupts the flavour for a smooth, toasted finish. Reminds me of my youth when the only beer I drank for a long time was Sheaf Stout. This is a perfect brew in this class. This is one killer oatmeal stout. Pours motor oil black with a two finger head that quickly dissipates. Taste is chocolate, coffee and caramel. Very rich, smooth and balanced.

Perfetta oatmeal stout della California! Scura con schiuma beige. Al naso i classici sentori di arrosto e soia. In bocca coposa e ben bilanciata tendenzialmente amara e delicata. Sapore molto ricco e pieno di una stout con note di chioccolato e melassa. Finale persistente. Ottima!

UPDATED: SEP 18, 2017 Barmey Flats takes oatmeal to new heights. Wonderful blend of smoothness and chewyness that goes down easy and makes you eish all breakfast staples could be used to make stout so drinkably edible.
