COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
After scaling up our GT Gose recipe to a higher gravity and increasing the additions of botanicals, we aged it for three months in third-use barrels that once housed our Bourbon Barrel Stout. The resulting beer is truly unique and complex: the deeply charred barrels impart a notable “bourbonesque” hue to its appearance, while hints of vanilla and oak give balance to the botanicals leading to a soft bourbon flavor up front and a juniper-like finish.

Draft at Churchkey. Pours golden with a thick white head. Leaves a shitload of lacing in the glass. Complex notes of bourbon, wood, salt and botanicals in nose and tongue. Finished clean. Just a lovely beer.

marcus (10736) - Sacramento, California, USA - NOV 12, 2017
On tap at Capitol Hop Shop. Pours copper with a thick off-white head and a fruit and bourbon aroma. There is a medium-bodied mixed malt flavor with a lot of salt, vanilla, juniper and a hint of bourbon.

Good, extra sour gose with some botanicals. Brown coloured with aroma of wood, some tartness in taste, saltiness is almost unnoticable.

Keg at Brewdog Farringdon. This is a darn fine beer, highly unsusual. It is lip smacking sour and there is a lot of gin and tonic coming from it. Much more exciting than a similar Beavertown project one I had which was also delicious. Long may gin and t combine with beer.

Draft pour at Snallygaster 2017. Poured a clear golden color with a small foamy white head. Aroma was light tart notes, some grain. Very mild lemon, salt, some additional spices. Light soapy notes. Floral, herbal spices. Light barrel. It wasn’t refreshing and the flavorings just didn’t meld well with me compared to the other gose beers I’ve had from them.

Golden amber pour. Kinda flat looking though carbonation is good. Weird barrel choice for a gin and tonic based drink, but it works. Vanilla and oak compliment and compete some with the underlying botanicals and tartness for your attention. Cool, but I like the cheaper base G & T better.

Scopey (15853) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 23, 2017
Keg at BD Aberdeen. It pours hazy orangey amber with a small white head. The aroma is big oaky vibes, vanilla, marshmallow, salty, fragrant, limey, peppery juniper and lactic notes. The taste is crisp, dry, tart, salty, lemon - lime, lactic, vanilla, peppery juniper, tonic water, limeade, pithy, sherbet with a drying finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Well rounded and quaffable stuff. More I drink of it the better it gets.

BeardedAvenger (1182) - Addlestone, Surrey, ENGLAND - SEP 21, 2017
Keg at Brewdog CJ. Salty spicey... ermm.. gose... aroma. Pale caramel. Opaque. Creamy off-white head. A full on salty umami taste. Some underlying sweetness I can only describe as caramac. Are there smoky bourbon tones or do I want there to be? Medium bodied. Slick. Fizzy carbonation. Long dry and astringent finish. Good. But wouldnt/couldn't over indulge on this.

4 oz pour on draft at Spacebar. Clear straw golden yellow with off-white head. Aromas of stone fruit, tropical fruit, light salt, light tartness. Tastes of stone fruit, tart acidic notes, light salt, subtle oak. Light body with a dry finish. Barrel is pretty subtle, not necessarily a bad thing with this one.

Being third use the barrel isn’t in your face but it is surprising it is obvious still. Very interesting beer. Salty Sour Barrel a little bit of everything Starts salty then barrel then tart.
