Similar to Belgian-style Strong Pales, the Tripel is often characterized by its lighter color, spicy aromatics, and complexity. Brother David’s Triple is brewed with copious amounts of pale malts as well as Belgian candi sugar, giving it a deep golden hue, medium body and rich mouth feel. The dense head gives off aromas of candied orange peel, clover honey, pears, and a hint of freshly mown fields. The fruity esters and spicy hop flavors balance the phenolic characteristics leading to a peppery, citrusy finish.

Bottle from Sarkynortherner cheers Martin; clear amber pour with a thin white head, aroma has light yeast and marmalade, taste has sweet orange jam, a hint of banana, ok.

Appearance: slightly hazy medium gold with some particulate, a fat finger of rocky ivory head, good retention and moderate lacing. (3/5) Aroma: muted, biscuity malt, caramel, mild citrus and herbal. (6/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderate bitter. (6/10) Palate: medium body, moderate carbonation, warming finish. (3/5) A fairly uninspiring tripel. Nothing stands out as being poorly-done, as such, but then again, nothing stands out as being great. The aromas could be more emphatic, and there’s not much excuse for particulate in any style, but the ABV integration is actually not bad. Bottom line, I wouldn’t say “no” to this, but I wouldn’t go looking for it again, either. (12/20)

Bottle. Aroma is malt, biscuits, caramel with lemon and spices. In taste boozy with malt upfront. Finish is dry, medium bitter. Ok.

9,10,11,12,12,11 - 10,85

Bottle from On the Fly. Close, but no cigar. Everything right in the wheelhouse for the style, herbal and grassy notes, but nothing exceptional.

Aroma is light belgian, lemony, maybe some tropical fruits, rye bread. Nice but a bit underwhelming... had to really search for the aroma. Appearance is golden straw, crystal clear, tiny little head that fell flat quickly. This was a bottle on a non refrigerated shelf so that could be to blame for the non-existent head.... maybe. Taste is citrus forward, big sweet malt, pronounced bitterness.. maybe from hops but reminds me of orange peel. Palate is medium. This beer has too much alcohol heat and a hint of astringency. No creaminess at all. Comes across a bit watery , flavors disappear quickly. Too bitter for my taste. Overall this beer doesn’t pay off. A difficult beer to do well. Too big and just ends up being sloppy.

In short: yeasty bitter beer. Aroma: bread, yeast and malts. Appearance: hazy yellow with white foam. Taste: Light sweet and medium bitter. Palate: Lively sour yeast spikes.

Bottle split at LKS HeIgHtS, thanks to Fergus, 21/04/15. Very lightly hazed golden with a moderate off white covering. Nose is caramel, grain, paper, straw, pretty basic aroma. Taste improves comprising caramel, light spice, prunes, vanilla, dates, light booze. Medium + bodied, fine carbonation, light warming booze in the close. So so affair, a very basic model lacking any depth or complexity.

35,5cl flesje via Firma Bier Alcoholpercentage van 10% Uitgeschonken in Leffe glas Uiterlijk: goudoranje, schuimkraag trekt snel weg Aroma en smaak: fruitig beetje als dadel, kandijsuiker, honingachtig, erg zoet, Belgisch gist Conclusie: tripel met voornamelijk zoete tonen, daardoor niet echt verrassend ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
