Dark black color, medium head. Medium bodied porter. Rich roasted malts, chocolaty and coffee like. Smooth flavor. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is chocolaty. Very nice beer. erway (1004) - Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA - AUG 17, 2002
A fair version of a porter. Surprised by the abv, tasted less than that. Definitely dark but, like many American Porters, the palate was very,... well,... underwhelming. herbjones (742) - Orange, California, USA - AUG 15, 2002
Deep dark brew.Huge tan head with a slight burnt aroma. Some coffee notes with a little chocolate coming through. Not as much body as its appearance would have you think.Decent beer though.Surprised it only has three ratings since it's everywhere in California. Drew (2470) - Kent, Ohio, USA - MAY 2, 2002
deep dark color, inch high head stays for awhile. small roof fo the mouth bite, with a medium thick mouthfeel. Sweet roasted bitternes at the end of the swallow followed by a sweet chocolate-y taste that stays. nice. chronictonic (490) - Oreland, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 18, 2002
A deep, rich black porter. Initial aroma was milky and a sweet, but as the head dissipated aromas of sweet and roasted malts emerged, along with subtle fruity, woody and smokey flavors. These notes are for a version on tap in October 2001 from a fresh keg. Reading the other review, I went back and checked my notes and I found it to be a very full bodied porter. Hmmm...

A pleasant porter, nice aroma, good coffee, chocolaty and bitter aftertaste. Not quite assertive enough and a little too lightweight for a porter.
