Tanned leather. Big sour. Very intresting beer. Very unique. Came to try this beer and I wasnt dissapointed. English personality. The stout is way in the background. If you like sour stuff you should like this.

On draft at Beer Revolution. Im not a fan of sour stouts, but this one was very nice. It pours black with a khaki colored head. The aroma has some buttery toffee and some dark fruit. Not much funk or astringency. The flavor is pleasantly lemony lactic with notes of toffee and cocoa. Virtually no acetic character with a lemony, bitter, roasty, tobacco finish. Despite all this going on, it remains mellow and drinkable. Really nice.

Sampler at the tasting room as Sour Stout. Roasty aroma with a hint of vanilla and sour. Flavor is roasted malt, chocolate, and a slight sourness. Not overly sour, but a nice compliment to the stout.

Quite unique, liked it a bit more than I though I would. Starts fairly sour and acidic, then goes off towards normal stout-i-ness. Appearance is as normal, dark, though somewhat filtered looking. Complex and worth trying again.

On tap at Harrys Hofbrau in Redwood City, CA. Aroma is mild chocolate and dark fruits. Taste is sour cherries, dark chocolate covered cherries, mild cherry liqueur. A wonderful mix of sour dark fruits, chocolate and tangy porter vibes.

The version I got was the Mendonesia Sour Stout on tap at Mellow Fellow in Truckee, CA. Smells tart and yeast blended very well together. Almost black color with a short tan head. Sweeeeet tart taste at first then mellow but still sour citrus. Damn good. Lotta different things going on at the same time.

Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark brown. Mild bourbon aroma. Medium body. Flavor is lightly sour, dark malt, light bourbon. Nothing really strong, but the combined flavors are very good.

Tasted on Sour Sunday at The Jupiter. Pours dark black with beige bubbles. Nose is light sour mash. Med+ body. Flavor is sour, like sour malt, finishing with dark malty stout, but sour is ever present. Wild!

Draft at Capones: Aroma funk, diacetyl, and some malt. No aroma of oak or port. Poured very deep amber/brown/ruby in color with a large, creamy, dense, tan/brown head that diminished but lasted throughout. Clear. Not sparkling. Excellent lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet and lightly tart. Tastes of funk, light tart fruit, slight malt, and more funk. Medium body. Thinish, then lightly dry texture. Light to medium sweet, slightly tart, funk, fruit, finish is lightly dry.

Draft at Capones. Pours hazy dark brownish black with 1-finger off-khaki head. Nose is tart dark fruit, blackberry, port, woody malt. Tastes tart with dark malt and big blackberry, port, and oaky woody notes. Finishes complex and delicious. This one rocks.
