COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This sour ale is produced by aging our Horn Of The Beer Barleywine in Wild Turkey bourbon barrels for extended periods of time (up to 2 years.) The aroma is reminiscent of earthy red wines with a background of caramel and honey and just a hint of wood and sourness. The flavor is intensely sour with a touch of acetic acid and notes of brown malt, toast, and ripe red fruit. The bourbon character adds a savory, woody component that yields subtle notes of coconut and vanilla.

Shared with Strykzone on Facebook Chat. Poured a dark brown being almost black with a big foamy off-white head and excellent lacing. Nose of dark fruit, including figs and raisins, along with sour grapes. Even some chocolate and coffee. A lot of complexity. Body is medium to full. Alcohol just shows a little in the mouthfeel. Flavor is as complex as the aroma. There are dark chocolate malts. raisins. figs, cherry and a lot of funk. Finishes with wood (oak), vanilla and more funk. Amazing how well the barley wine and sourness blend together. A real gem

Bomber from hayduke that we had together via facebook chat. Dark brown. A heavy beige head leaves classic looking lacing. The aroma has some vinegar notes and also a lot more. Flavor is complex. Earthy, funky, vinous, bourbon, woody. So much going on in this one! Funk is not more classic brett or lacto but something different. There is caramel and vanilla and it is acidic. Dark fruit and chocolate syrup. So much complexity! And so fun to have a full bottle of. Thank for this one Ron!

Aromas of tart grapes, acidic malts, toffee, chocolate, blackberries, toffee, figs, raisins, wild yeast, barnyard, oak, dark malts and roasted coffee. Pours a blackish brown with a crimson tint and almost no foam or lacing. Taste brings dark malts, chocolate, toffee, dark fruits, blackberries, roasted malts, subtle smoke and burnt caramel upfront. Mid palate releases black cherries, wild yeast, barnyard funk, acidity, rice vinegar, brett and fruity esters. Finishes with oak, bourbon, vanilla, barrel wood and tons of booze. Overall, a very interesting combination of styles. The barleywine malts and dark fruits are present at the same time as the bourbon barrel and oak notes. All the while, sourness and funky yeast migrate throughout the mouthfeel. A rating.

Bomber, 2016 vintage. Tart cherry aroma with notes of lacto, dark fruit, caramel, bourbon and vanilla. Pours dark caramel brown colored with a thin tan head that has some retention and decent lacing. Starts with tart cherry, dry red wine, dark fruit and lacto sourness to go with a medium body and vinous mouthfeel. Finishes dry and smooth with some caramel, bourbon and a little bit of vanilla with the ripe fruity tartness lingering throughout. Pretty interesting and quite good.

Pouring at EBF 2014. Pours a clear brown with a thin tan head. Fruity and funky, sweet oxidized fruit. Large tart and funky, with big warm boozy notes. Chewy malt and tart funk. Big old fruit lingering full of acid.

Location: Draft at ChurchKey, 11/1/14

Aroma: Sour aroma, has some fruit, and a bit of wood
Appearance: The pour is murky reddish-brown with a small head
Flavor: The flavor is along the same lines, spur and fruity, wood notes
Palate: Medium bodied, slight heat, a little funky on the finish
Overall Impression: I thought this was a solid one. Pretty nice example of the style. Worth trying for sure.
