3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft at Beer Authority. Aroma is berries, chocolate, red grapes. Very xomplex flavors of cab sauv, grass, chocolate, lactic, sweet malt. Great long finish - sour, astringent, herbal, fruity.
Aromas of tart grapes, acidic malts, toffee, chocolate, blackberries, toffee, figs, raisins, wild yeast, barnyard, oak, dark malts and roasted coffee. Pours a blackish brown with a crimson tint and almost no foam or lacing. Taste brings dark malts, chocolate, toffee, dark fruits, blackberries, roasted malts, subtle smoke and burnt caramel upfront. Mid palate releases black cherries, wild yeast, barnyard funk, acidity, rice vinegar, brett and fruity esters. Finishes with oak, bourbon, vanilla, barrel wood and tons of booze. Overall, a very interesting combination of styles. The barleywine malts and dark fruits are present at the same time as the bourbon barrel and oak notes. All the while, sourness and funky yeast migrate throughout the mouthfeel. A rating. mar (5417) - Dallas, Texas, USA - JUN 3, 2017

Bomber, 2016 vintage. Tart cherry aroma with notes of lacto, dark fruit, caramel, bourbon and vanilla. Pours dark caramel brown colored with a thin tan head that has some retention and decent lacing. Starts with tart cherry, dry red wine, dark fruit and lacto sourness to go with a medium body and vinous mouthfeel. Finishes dry and smooth with some caramel, bourbon and a little bit of vanilla with the ripe fruity tartness lingering throughout. Pretty interesting and quite good. j12601 (12000) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - FEB 19, 2015

Draft. Hazed brown. Huge american barley wine though the hops are tempered by the Bourbon. Heavy caramel and vanilla, dry oak, finishing tartness that is balamicy but not over the top. nimbleprop (8382) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - OCT 30, 2014
4oz pour at Churchkey’s Night of the Living Ales 2014. Pours a clear caramel amber with loads of creamy, lacing white head. Nose has some rubber, cherry, wood pulp, a little herbal. Flavor is acetic, some candy though too, mild berry, grape, wood pulp, slightly vegetal, some apple notes as well. Tart, hot finish. Not my thing.
