COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Robust. Brewed with a “heelch” (that means “a lot” in Boontling) of Columbus, Chinook, and Cascade hops, our double IPA has a palate pleasing bitterness that is artfully balanced with a full-bodied malt foundation. With a deep color of polished brass and a nose that sings of pink grapefruit and redwood needles, the rich biscuit-like malt flavors are intertwined with hints of vanilla, mangoes, and peppercorns leading to a deep, warming finish.

MALTS:
Pale Two-Row, Victory

HOPS:
Columbus, Chinook, Cascade

probstblueribbon (3791) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - APR 22, 2014
12 fl oz bottle from Potsdam, served cold in a tulip glass.

App.: Clear deep golden with a nice off-white head. Aroma: Quite sweet and fruity, lots of tropical fruits, peaches and apricots, a little peppery/spicy/resinous, sweet, crunchy caramel maltiness, quite likeable. Palate: Medium+ body, fairly full carbonation. Flav.: A lot of rich tropical fruits, somewhat peppery, darker and more severe than the nose, rich caramel and dark bread crust malt, some alcohol, citrus oil, resin, quite big; dry with good bitterness, alcohol warmth and a long, toffee and tropical fruit finish.

Strange name, nice DIPA.

Bottle from AmmersinO, Vienna. Clear, amber body, with big, frothy, whire head. Aroma of citrus, tangerine, apricot, pine, butterscotch, honey, biscuit, grass. Taste with about the same aromas, good balance between bitter and sweet. Mouthfeel is medium, oily, with a medium carbonation and it finishes bitter, dry, with lemon zest, pine, grass and candy. Seems a bit like a slightly stronger version of their Hop Ottin IPA, but less complex. The hop aromas are nice, although I’m missing some more fruit explosion for a DIPA, the malt notes are a bit flat. Overall decent, but nothing special.

Cervesa molt equilibrada, tot i tractar-se d’una imperial IPA no és exageradament amarga. Cerveza muy equilibrada, aun que por tratarse de una imperial IPA no es exageradamente amarga.

SHANER4 (500) - Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA - APR 19, 2014
Bottle-Poured golden color with medium off/white head. Aroma-pine, banana, butterscotch and yeasty/bread. Taste-Dandelion, butterscotch, pine and apricot. Pretty nice tasting beer with this smooth creamy palate. Mouthfeel is medium/heavy and is not overly bitter. For having 100ibu’s it seems more like a regular IPA. Overall-I enjoyed this beer, not crazy good but not bad either.

Could be hoppier for a double IPA. It seems to be a little smooth, which is not bad, but I prefer IPAs to have a kick to them. Definitely a mild IPA.

Pours a dark that orange with a thick white head. Has a strong aroma of pine, hops, malts and caramel. Taste is very malty to start and had citrus hops, pine, and grapefruit. A mix of bitter malt and hop aftertaste.

UPDATED: APR 17, 2014 Aroma of cantaloupe. Taste is bizarrely and unexpectedly sweet at first taste. Given name leads you to anticipate "lots of hops," taste ends up being kind of offy-sweet.

355ml bottle (Leijuva Lahna, Helsinki, Kalakierros 2014)
Sugary sweet malty aroma, dripping with caramel, sweet fruitiness from the hops. Says "gonna be *way* too sweet" to be honest. Orange, small tight head. In the mouth, it nearly satisfies the prediction from the aroma, but subtly derails it, and sends it in the direction of "yum". Yes, this is super sweet, but the lemony citrus hops keep it sharp. Palate is smooth, but not quite slick, carbonation and bitter bite prevent that. Slips down easily, drinkability amaingly good considering the sweetness. Definitely in the guilty pleasure zone, as this isn’t my style at all. Citrus hops initially the attention-grabbers, but red peppery bitter hops have the last say, there’s a nice little warmth to the finish. For something so far away from the beer styles I like, this has hooked me, and I have to congratulate the brewers - you made a hater like the style briefly.
