Hop-Heads, your dreams have come true! Hop Ottin’ is Boontling for "hardworking hops," and they’re surely hard at work in this brew. Hop Ottin’ starts with a strong floral aroma, which winds into a deep and complex body. In an intriguing balance, honey-drenched malts coat rich hop undertones. At length, the hops prevail, with a satisfyingly crisp finish. Hop Ottin’ bites like a cankicky bluetail (Hop Ottin’ bites like a rattlesnake looking for a fight.)

MALTS:
Pale Two-Row, Crystal (40L), Munich (20L)

HOPS:
Columbus, Cascade

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a semi-clear copper color. There’s about two fingers worth of off-white colored head, though the texture is a bit rougher than I prefer. The retention is solid enough, though, and good amounts of lacing are left behind. S: The hops here are mostly piny, with some lemony hints and no tropical fruits (or any other citrusy notes) anywhere. Meanwhile, its malt backbone is loaded with toffee and nuttiness. I kind of wish this was less malty and more fruity, but that’s only personal preference. T: There’s a slight opening of nutty sweetness - then boom, the hops hit. Sadly, there isn’t much hop flavor, rather it relies on grassy bitterness as a ballast toward the building caramel sweetness. There’s something past the swallow suggesting leather, and after half the bottle, becomes too malty for me. But it’s still pretty good at the end of the day. M: Carbonation pokes through the body quite strongly, and helps to dry out the finish some. It’s also quite crisp and relatively light (if somewhat sweet on the linger), so this one is pretty drinkable. O: This kind of IPA - sweetish, bitter from the hops, no citrus - isn’t my style, but this *is* well made considering that. I have trouble finding this one fresh, and it’s a bit pricier than the standard IPA 6-packs; as a result, this one isn’t on my ’must buy immediately’ list.

Buena aunque no mi favorita ni mucho menos entre las tantas americanas. Malta muy presente. En españa suele llegar en botella y algo vieja; lástima.

UPDATED: OCT 3, 2017 Draft @ Crowne Plaza LAX. Aroma a little citrus, little bready. Color is clear, Orangish amber with a thick white head that slowly fades, good lacing. Smooth mouthfeel. Flavor is initially citrus, followed by pine later. Clean though. Overall a pretty good IPA.

A bottle from the basement of 101. Aroma: fresh bread, citrus fruit. Appearance: hazy amber, off-white lacing. Palate: medium-bodied and rather slick, lively carbonation, complex astringent finish. Taste: heavily bitter, pineapple, some vanilla. Not my favourite style, but a good example nonetheless.

Decent IPA, not too special in my experience but I enjoyed it nevertheless.

Where: Pizzeria Paradiso, Hyattsville, MD. How: Sampler pour on tap. Pours orange-amber, slightly hazy with a one-finger head. Aroma is somewhat malty with citrus mixed in. Smells very refined and smooth - well done. Taste is malt-forward with a good dose of citrus. Very smooth flavor and well balanced. Moderate bitterness kicks in midway through. Very good west coast - really liked this one.

Can from Pivný raj. Very nice IPA from California. Sweetish taste supported by good level of hoppiness. Lovely long bitter finish. Tasty.

Piwo lekko metne w kolorze jasny bursztyn z niezbyt obfita sredniopecherzykowa piana. Czuc nuty ziolowe i troche iglakow z niezbyt intensywna domieszka grejpfruta. Zywiczna goryczka i wysycenie na srednim poziomie. Duzo podbudowy slodowej, bardzo gladkie. Smakuje troche jak IPA na angielskich chmielach.
