Hop-Heads, your dreams have come true! Hop Ottin is Boontling for "hardworking hops," and theyre surely hard at work in this brew. Hop Ottin starts with a strong floral aroma, which winds into a deep and complex body. In an intriguing balance, honey-drenched malts coat rich hop undertones. At length, the hops prevail, with a satisfyingly crisp finish. Hop Ottin bites like a cankicky bluetail (Hop Ottin bites like a rattlesnake looking for a fight.)

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a semi-clear copper color. Theres about two fingers worth of off-white colored head, though the texture is a bit rougher than I prefer. The retention is solid enough, though, and good amounts of lacing are left behind. S: The hops here are mostly piny, with some lemony hints and no tropical fruits (or any other citrusy notes) anywhere. Meanwhile, its malt backbone is loaded with toffee and nuttiness. I kind of wish this was less malty and more fruity, but thats only personal preference. T: Theres a slight opening of nutty sweetness - then boom, the hops hit. Sadly, there isnt much hop flavor, rather it relies on grassy bitterness as a ballast toward the building caramel sweetness. Theres something past the swallow suggesting leather, and after half the bottle, becomes too malty for me. But its still pretty good at the end of the day. M: Carbonation pokes through the body quite strongly, and helps to dry out the finish some. Its also quite crisp and relatively light (if somewhat sweet on the linger), so this one is pretty drinkable. O: This kind of IPA - sweetish, bitter from the hops, no citrus - isnt my style, but this *is* well made considering that. I have trouble finding this one fresh, and its a bit pricier than the standard IPA 6-packs; as a result, this one isnt on my must buy immediately list.

The looks of the beer isnt bad. The beer has quite a dark orange color, with a nice medium cloudiness. Its still possible to look trough it a bit, but it is far from clear. On top of the beer there is a nice layer of soft slightly off white foam. The foam retention isnt bad. After a while a nice soft drape of foam still is left. Not bad. The smell of the beer is nice. I smell some clear malts forming a nice base. There is also a nice spicy touch, reminding me a bit of pumpkin ale. Not strong, but a very gentle touch. The hops are nice. They are quite complex. They start off with a more floral aroma, but after a while some nice aromas of both citrus and some spices appear. This pairs very well with the sweet and slightly spicy malt aromas. Pretty well balanced smell to. The taste is also very nice. Sweet base of malts, with again that spicy touch and also a sweet honey flavour. Besides are the strong floral hops, with some touches of citrus. Both sweets and bitters are well balanced, with a nice tiny refreshing acidity. Good one. The palate is also nice. Medium body, quite smooth and a touch of creaminess maybe, and a nice medium high carbonation. The finish is nice and contains some nice alcohol and some nice bitter hops. All in all, a nice full IPA, filled with hops but also with an eye for tasty malts. I like it a lot.

The aroma, while good, falls a bit short for an IPA. However its so tasty and feels perfect in texture, one can almost overlook that.

12 oz. can shared by Chalumeaux. Hazy orange color, light whisky head. Aroma is abundant in caramel, mild floral tones, and weak pine.

Floral hops, weak pine, mostly caramel malts. Bitterness in the form of pine and tries to come through the sweetness. Medium body with standard carbonation. Ok
