by far my favorite ipa.I love hops and this one has them.large quantities of columbus. It has the right alcohol content for this style. It is very refreshing, not too bitter, not too sweet, just right. I strive to brew a batch this hoppy. Hop Ottin is the best! knickerbocker (13) - USA - JUN 13, 2003
UPDATED: FEB 3, 2006 Over the top with Hops, slight chocolate wrecks the otherwise substatial hoppy bitter grapefruit taste that is a requirement of excellent IPA. That said this is above average as a fine example of California Art of the Brewery. mookie (45) - Tacoland, Texas, USA - JAN 23, 2005
a perfect score. every one i’ve ever consumed has brought the greatest pleasure. nice opening. oozing hop aromas. color is beautiful, deep shiny golden copper. foam is dense, isn’t going anywhere. few bubbles. rich dry malt. bitterness so bold but not harsh. is soft on the palate yet firm. thick foam clings all the way down the glass with every pull. well balanced, ever solid, perhaps the pinnacle of the style American IPA. dangerously enjoyable. commercial description is great, ’honey-drenched malts’, so true Indy (87) - Hopkins, Minnesota, USA - FEB 1, 2006
Absolute perfection. This is one of my top five "desert island" beers.
Sadly, we are unable to get this beer in MN any more...but it is definitely worth a trip to WS to stock up!! thebrood1987 (22) - New Jersey, USA - MAY 30, 2011
This is literally one of my favorite IPA’s to date...the only bad thing about is it’s availability where I live. The smell has pine and and resin herb smells with some sweet toffee malts. The taste has a very crisp and refreshing hop bite that tastes herbal as well. It has a very long bitter and dry after taste digs deep into your taste buds. I also get the sweet toffee and brown honey bread like malts that add to the richness of the hops perfectly. I really think this is a perfect example of an American IPA.

Perfect honey drizzled toffee hop nectar hops. And malted hops and honey. Yummy. bartazo (90) - Esztergom, HUNGARY - FEB 22, 2014
UPDATED: FEB 23, 2014 Számomra ez egy tökéletes IPA. A keserűsége ideális és ezt úgy öleli körbe a gyümölcsösség, hogy ívás közben nevetni támad kedvem! Ebből mindig kellene itthon néhány üveg. phikus (96) - syracuse, New York, USA - OCT 27, 2014
UPDATED: NOV 12, 2014 An underated favorite of mine. A classic IPA in the finest. Pine cedar citrus perfumey honey biscuit aroma leads into earthy classic west coast hopped caramel flavor that finishes dry with crisp balanced hoppiness. There is a reason this has stood the test of time in the ever changing competitive market of craft IPAs and carried on since the dawn of this style. This is the perfect IPA for CNY autumn to spring. swanmann (764) - Nompton, Oklahoma, USA - AUG 5, 2010
Yeah, what they said. It’s the Hop Ottinest! It looks like an amber jewel beneath pale white clouds. It smells like grapefruit and lemon. A touch of roasted, coffee bitterness travels along a smooth, sweet undertone into a full bodied, well-executed dry finish. Uh, I like it. neilvis99 (3) - USA - APR 26, 2000 does not count
