COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Complexity. Aged for three months in Wild Turkey Bourbon barrels, this luxurious stout has a deep ebony hue and a beautiful mahogany head. The woody, vanilla-like notes imparted by the barrels mingle with aromas of fresh baked bread, toffee, and espresso and envelop the rich chocolate and roasted barley flavors with a fine bourbon character. Our exclusive partnership with Wild Turkey gives Anderson Valley a world class, consistent source of barrelage, allowing our brewers to explore new frontiers in barrel-aged craft beer.

As much as Im tired of such beers, I enjoyed this. It was not a punch in the mouth. Nice balanced sweetness, semidry at finish with notes of coffee and dark chocolate, some roast. The bourbon element was fairly restrained, mostly a hint of whiskey in the nose, just a bit of vanilla.

Bottle shared. Pours a deep brown to black with a small head that lingers. Lovely bourbon nose with some light wood and muted vanilla. Thin and light but not boozy at all. Chocolate milk and hazelnut. Light roasted finish. Light but solid.

Pours black with very slight tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, burnt toast and a hint of whiskey. Taste is burnt malt, dark chocolate and slightly tart, ever so slight hint of whiskey. Not very bourbon barrel-ey. Pretty light bodied. Good.

22-ounce bottle poured into a small snifter. Appearance is nearly black with some reddish hues. Minimal tan head and lacing; head disappears quickly. Aroma is espresso, caramel, vanilla beans, faint cocoa. Taste is dark chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, woodsy, earthy, some dark fruits, and surprisingly very little of the bourbon flavors from the Wild Turkey barrels, which may be welcomed for the non-bourbon-drinking beer drinkers. Mouthfeel is somewhat prickly from carbonation; rich, yet not chewy; surprisingly light for a stout and amazingly easy-drinking for a 6.9 percent brew.

Dark brown/black color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of toasted/smoky malt, oak, vanilla, dark chocolate, & some coffee; Flavor of sweet roasted malt, oak, dark chocolate, caramel, & some dark fruit notes; Dry finish; Nicely balanced; Good overall - but would have liked more bourbon flavor.

Serving: from tap at Marianna Ristorante. Aroma: heavy bourbon and light coffee. Appearance: small, creamy, light-brown, initial head with no lacing and fully diminishing longevity. Clear, cola-brown body. Taste: lightly sweet, bourbon initial flavor and lightly acidic bourbon and smoke finish with average duration. Palate: medium-to-full body, watery texture and soft carbonation. Overall: very good flavor and aroma.

Very light bourbon smell...taste is very good sweet bourbon... appearance is dark as midnight...taste is medium strength with some depth...finish is smooth but not as strong in depth as I might expect...
