COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Complexity. Aged for three months in Wild Turkey Bourbon barrels, this luxurious stout has a deep ebony hue and a beautiful mahogany head. The woody, vanilla-like notes imparted by the barrels mingle with aromas of fresh baked bread, toffee, and espresso and envelop the rich chocolate and roasted barley flavors with a fine bourbon character. Our exclusive partnership with Wild Turkey gives Anderson Valley a world class, consistent source of barrelage, allowing our brewers to explore new frontiers in barrel-aged craft beer.

Found this on tap at the Yard House in Chino Hills. Barney Flats aged in a bourbon barrel! Ive tried many stouts that have been aged in bourbon barrels some are good and some are so over powered by bourbon and oak that they taste like soy sauce. The good news is Anderson Valley nailed this one. If you Enjoyed the Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout like I did this is gonna rock your world. The Appearance is Black l and it had a 1" head that stuck around for little while leaving a nice little lacing on the glass. The aroma is intoxicating in itself, bourbon ,oak, cocoa, and coffee up front and sharing the stage nothing really overpowering the other. The mouth feel is smooth and creamy as expected from an oatmeal stout. It taste like it smells except the malts and hops come forward and add tho the blend. The mild after taste is just like it smells mild bourbon and oak burn with chocolate. My new Favorite. Now if I can just find it in Bottles around here.

Bottle at home with Caressa, Apollo, and the wife. Creamy brown head over a nearly black pour. The aroma is vanilla, butterscotch, milk chocolate, light smoke. Light bodied and thin. Smoky malt with faint bourbon notes. Solid, but somehow underwhelming.

From a bomber in a snifter. Pours slightly ruby black. Aroma is light bourbon essence. Flavor is amazingly light bodied for anything with Bourbon Barrel in its name or any Stout. No coffee or bitter flavors. Just smooth roasted malt with a touch of bourbon. Very nice. Its like [Generic sought after bourbon barrel Imperial Stout] Light!

As much as Im tired of such beers, I enjoyed this. It was not a punch in the mouth. Nice balanced sweetness, semidry at finish with notes of coffee and dark chocolate, some roast. The bourbon element was fairly restrained, mostly a hint of whiskey in the nose, just a bit of vanilla.

Bottle shared. Pours a deep brown to black with a small head that lingers. Lovely bourbon nose with some light wood and muted vanilla. Thin and light but not boozy at all. Chocolate milk and hazelnut. Light roasted finish. Light but solid.

Pours black with very slight tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, burnt toast and a hint of whiskey. Taste is burnt malt, dark chocolate and slightly tart, ever so slight hint of whiskey. Not very bourbon barrel-ey. Pretty light bodied. Good.
