Our Cider House Collection #1: For centuries Farmhouse Cider making has been a tradition celebrated by farmers in the English and French countryside. Strawman combines a distinct blend of juices from traditional culinary and bittersweet apples, which is then aged in oak. The result is a full-flavored, complex and balanced cider with wine-like characteristics, rounded out by apple and citrus notes. Its lingering, earthy finish is a homage to the origins of this unique cider.

Wasn’t sure what to expext. The taste is sort of mature apple with a definite wine component. Caramel and toffee notes. Very enjoyable.

Very dry, tart, with a sharp, tannic and oaky taste at the end, fading into a bit of an aftertaste. Reminiscent of a saison almost.

Bottle at BrewMaster’s Craft Beer Festival. Pours a clear orange with small white head. The aroma is floral, apple, pear skin. Thin body, tart apple, light oak, dry finish, good.

Hazy. Sweet. Tart apple. Light hay. Not a lot of interest. Medium bodied. Decent.

Funky and strongly carbonated. A hint of sourness and only thinly flavored of apple. The palate and funk stand out a lot more than the rest. It’s okay but seems to be halfway measures in various directions.

Rating #1993 - 2015.09.26 - #CraftTakesSeattle Day 3, Beer 95 - Bottleshare. Clear, very pale yellow colour, weakly carbonated. Aroma is sweet apples., oak, vanilla, lavender. Taste is bubbly sweet, alcohol very well disguised, this could pass for juice. Nice earthy notes round out this cider well.

Rated on 7-09-2015 (Bottle) The appearance is a large fizzy white head that quickly dissipated, hazy body and slow rising carbonation. The aroma is very sweet, lightly tart, apples, and a hint of oak. The flavor is very sweet, tart, apples, sour and has a dry finish. The mouthfeel is spritzy, and this cider is medium bodied. Overall, quaffable, but it is too sweet tasting for my liking.

decaturstevo (6343) - decatur, Tennessee, USA - OCT 13, 2015
Hazed orange pour with white head. Aroma is light sour apple and a touch of cinnamon. Flavor is a sour apple and bitter. Tart to say the least. Light bodied and watery. A big sour cider. Not my favorite.

DuffMan (10667) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 8, 2015
Sampled from the bottle @ Medicine Hat Beerfest 2015. Hazy deep golden hue, brisk carbonation of medium bubbles. Boozy apple with phenolic notes. Harsh.

This corked and caged bottled Cider from a grocery store poured a head of foamy medium sized off-white colored bubbles that were quickly diminishing and left behind a typically carbonated orange brown colored body and a poor lacing. The mild aroma was golden apple. The dry crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The ok flavor contained notes of golden apple and crisp. An OK brew just nothing special.

A healthy cork-pop signals a lively beverage.... pours a well-hazed copper, with a fizzy head that fades fast, although goodly carbonation keeps swirls of bubbles percolating. Dry, vinous aroma with apples coming out late. As I take a sip, its tartness and full-bodied consistency take me by surprise. (Well, that and the obvious hit of alcohol.) I’m reading the bottle as I sip and see "wine-like characteristics", which is certainly true. At times it’s like sipping a tannic wine with grapeskin notes. Another sip and it comes off like a saison, and yet another taste provides the tongue with a nice, tart, well-made cider. I was expecting something special with this one and I was not disappointed with its complexities and potency. ~~~~~~ 750ml Bottle, Kenwood Liquors, Oak Lawn, IL
