Poured a dark reddish brown with a tan head. Aroma of coffee and dark chocolate. Medium body, a bit heavier than the ABV, flavour as the aroma if less intense with some liquorice. kermis (12869) - The Hague / Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - JUL 12, 2013
Bottle shared at THT July thanks to Scott. Pours almost black with a small beige head. Aroma of malt, toffee, coffee and chocolate. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. jmgreenuk (9306) - Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA - JUL 12, 2013
Bottle at the Deanso’s monthly RB tasting, July 2013. Poured a dark mahogany colour with a thin off-white head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. The flavour is medium bitter, watery with a little liquorice and cough medicine in the palate. Tastes a little alcoholic too which is surprising given the ABV. sample at Dean’s Monthly Den Haag tasting.
Very thin tan head. Clear black pour. Nice coffee aroma. Nice smooth stout. Leighton (21083) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 1, 2013
Bottle at at ChrisO tasting, London. Pours clear, dark brown with a creamy, beige foam head. Dust dark malt nose, some tangy leather. Light sweet flavor with moderate tang, funk, light dirt. Medium bodied with heavy carbonation. Lightly sweet to finish with earthy bitterness and modest berries. OK. Lots of tangy fruits and leather, which don’t really work. Cask @ Clockwork Beer Co. Almost black colour, big foamy head. Mild milky malt aroma. Herby treacle malt flavour. Smooth & creamy with sour aftertaste. Not really my sort of beer. Theydon_Bois (19191) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - OCT 1, 2012
Bottle at Chriso - 25/09/12 thanks to Paul/Scopey.
Very dark mahogony brown with a thin mocha head.
Very fruity nose, slightly soured, cherries, dates, prunes.
Taste follows nose with dark fruit flavours, a little roast malt none of the usual stout features such as coffee, licquorice, chocolate nor is there any full on roastiness.
Lighter end of medium in body with a slightly sour finish.
I really enjoyed this one after an evening comprised of largely stronger stuff. Not your typical stout very fruity. Scopey (14502) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 1, 2012
Bottle from Dunnottar Wine and Spirits. It pours very dark cloudy brown, with a thin beige head. The nose is roasted malt, coffee, blackberry, blueberry, light sourness and berry yoghurt. The taste caramel, roasted malt, light coffee, ash, assertive fruitiness, blueberry, blackcurrant, blackberry, jam, berry yoghurt, raisin, some sourness and a hint of vinegar in the background. Medium body, fine carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Not sure if this turned out exactly as planned, but I found it to be rather delicious!
