Cask Stillage at Nottingham Castle, Nottingham 15/10/2010 (As Drivers Stout) Fruit and roast aromas. Dark coloured a littly rich on the palate fruity and hoppy with an orange flavour. A hint of dryness and bitterness in a burnt roast finish.

Bottle at the Deansos monthly RB tasting, July 2013. Poured a dark mahogany colour with a thin off-white head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. The flavour is medium bitter, watery with a little liquorice and cough medicine in the palate. Tastes a little alcoholic too which is surprising given the ABV.

Cask-conditioned at the Minehead Beer Festival, 8/09/2012. Near black with a slight, tan head. Aroma of tart, dark fruits, decent roasted malts and a hint of milk chocolate. Full flavoured, with some prominent and tangy fruits, cereal malts and dryish finish. Very good.

Cask gravity, Coventry 2011. Liquorice-coloured with ruby winks and a fine khaki halo. Wow; ink, marmite-smeared aubergine and smoked almond aroma. Light bodied but deep with peaty interest, grilled vegetables, barbecue and wee dram notes. Beautiful, soft, nuanced beer. At Leicester and Cov, stick to the Scottish stuff- ye cannae go wrong with it.

@ Thompson bar (?). Dark brown-black with ruby tint and nice lacing. Nice fruity aroma has dried cherries and chocolate, with some red licorice but no roast. Soft palate. Some acidity in the finish, closes a bit thin. The tartness of sour cherries and sour plum is interesting.

Cask @ Clockwork Beer Co. Almost black colour, big foamy head. Mild milky malt aroma. Herby treacle malt flavour. Smooth & creamy with sour aftertaste. Not really my sort of beer.

Poured a dark reddish brown with a tan head. Aroma of coffee and dark chocolate. Medium body, a bit heavier than the ABV, flavour as the aroma if less intense with some liquorice.

On cask at the Scottish Real Ale Festival, 2012. Pours a very dark brown colour with a fair tan head. Aroma of chocolate, roasty malt, caramel and alcohol. Similar flavours with moderate carbonation and an oily mouth-feel. A lovely dry finish.

Black, tight dense rich tan head, good lacing,
Aroma - roasted malts, deep dark malts, light espresso, soft chocolate
Taste - smooth roasted malts, soft rich dark malts, touch of mocha coffee, touch of liquorice, some dark fruity malts , quite complex, oh this is nice, good flavour for the abv
Palate - medium quite rich body for the abv, smooth soft dark malts, bit sticky, smooth deep malts, nice soft roast. Finish - soft roasted malts with light toffee and chocolate and rich dark malts
Overall - This is a really well made stout, I think its one of the best in Scotland
