Foodies and connoisseurs have undoubtedly heard of the French culinary term coulis. This gastronomic term for a sauce on the basis of fresh fruit, has made us dream.
Made on the basis of a white ale and enriched with natural fruit juice, Boscoli is a fruity beer for beautiful days, beautiful terraces and beautiful eyes.

Lekker fruitig biertje, te vergelijken met Liefmans. Echt een aanrader voor in de zomer eens te drinken

Roze rood fruitbier. Smaak is fruitig en net erg zoet. Ondanks dat dit soort bier niet mijn type is toch smakelijk.

330 ml bottle bought at Craftissmo in Tsim Sha Tsui East.

Translucent dull ruby red colour with faint trace of yeast particles; Three-quarter finger head and off-pink foam which lasts for about 90 seconds; Very good sticky lacing with near zero carbonation; Quite fragrant aroma of raspberry, strawberry, cranberry, sugar, malt and light yeast; Close to light sweet taste of light malt, with raspberry juice, strawberry, cherry, carbonated soda, light molasses, light yeast, and faint sparkling wine; Light body, thin palate; Mouth feel is largely raspberry, cherry and strawberry juice - light and refreshing - with barely a touch of sweetness. Malt and winey taste can be felt but really doesnt feel like a beer, more like a berry fruit cocktail Hoppiness is only very faint grass aroma. No bitterness, just light malty fruit juice finish; Slightly dry after taste, extremely easy to mouth.

Comments: So, is beer brewed with coulis (mixed fruit puree) a good idea? I think this one is rather poorly-executed: the fruit juice part is pretty nice, fruity, refreshing and very low sweetness, but the light beer base just cant pick it up to impress. Should a Lambic-base was used, the result could be pretty exciting. For now, this is just an inoffensive Meh.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Hogerdijk, Culemborg. Red with a large pink head. Red fruits in the aroma: cherries, strawberries, raspberries. Taste is sweetish but with a sour aftertaste. Not as sweet as kriek lambieks and the like. More of a Belgian white with fruits. Not bad for a fruit beer.

Interesting aftertaste of fruit and a little grass. There is slight sour note which lifts this beer marginally above others. Definitely a beer I would finish, but still a little too artificial.
