(Rating #5998)

Hazy pale gold, with doesn’t white head. Smell is citrus, banana, clove, dough and spices. Taste is sweet, malty, with slight citrus notes and and finishes with the classic hefeweizen spice you’d expect. Perfectly average hefeweizen. Not great, not terrible.

Pours out the normal hazy yellow Hefe colour. The pour gave a nice pillowy head and long streaky lace. The banana is very heavy in this beer, is it too much? Maybe if I had more than one. Not as much clove as I would like but drinks smooth. I’d have it again, especially at it’s price point.

Rating #967 - February 11, 2014 - $3.49 CAD for a 650mL bottle from Depot. Merchandised with Minhas #crap not #craft beer, so expectations are low. Cloudy, orange/honey coloured pour with a frothy white foam, medium retention. Aroma is yeast and bananas. Taste is more bananas (maybe too much), yeast, orange, coriander, and almost a sweet gingery taste lingering in the finish. Creamy, cool and very sweet, but leaves a very dry mouth. Very tame for a heffy.

500ml bottle pours a slightly hazy golden color with a finger and a half of white head that settles to reveal a few specks of lacing on the glass. Aroma is grassy with some hints of banana and light fruits. Taste is a grassy hop bitterness with a grainy malt sweetness. Typical of a lower end hefeweizen. Drinkable, but nothing really stands out.

Light orange and cloudy. Aroma has some banana, clove, and wheat. Pretty hefe-y. Taste echoes the aroma and was quite refreshing.

Bottle, shared with Grippitis. Cloudy pale yellow, creamy thick head that retains beautifully. Light banana, clove, and light orange as well. Smooth mouthfeel, slightly tart finish. Very nice.

500ml brown bottle. Pours out the typical here yellow, medium haze. Big column of white foam on top, good head retention, though not a lot of lace. Nose is heavy on the banana type ester with some cloves too. Taste has banana, then a bit of clove and lemon. Trace of spiciness from the yeast, wheaty aftertaste and some chalkiness from the yeast as well. Light body, good carbonation of the style, refreshing. Overall a nice brew that expresses the typical hefe characteristics well. Grabbed this for $2.79 on sale, good price, it easily stands up to the more well known examples.

Pours cloudy light orange with a frothy head. Aroma of faint clove, wheat and maybe a bit of fruit. Light carbonation, taste of malt, slight fruitiness, with a dry finish. Decent beer.
