COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A special beer with a profound taste gained by using carameled malt while brewing. A specific fermentation process gives this beer his extraordinary after taste.

Tap st the source. Pours dark brown-black with beige head. Aroma is sweet, caramel, roast. Flavor is sweet and bitter, malt roast, some dishrag. Finish is roast bitter. Overall: okish, but feels bit dirty.

Sampled 25cl draft at the brewery. Pours dark brown with a rather small beige head. Nose: roasted malts, caramel, roasted coffee beans, liquorice, cloves. Taste: medium carbonation. Starts creamy (milk, coffee) with a sweet touch. The roasted coffee is also strong present and leaves a strong bitterness behind. Hints of chocolate. The liquorice is surprisingly hard to taste. The aftertaste is a little bitter with slightly soft notes of sweetness and a low dry feeling.

Tap @ brewery. Nice brown pour. Dark fruits. Again, not that amazed. Okay brown/abbey double.

’Dubbel’ (though hardly worthy of the name) from Pakhuis, tasted there from tap years ago. Clear mahogany clour under a thin off-white head; caramelly, candi syrup, walnuts, dried fruits, yeasty spicy notes, thin mouthfeel (even on the watery side) and, like the blonde, not enough hops to balance. Disappointing.

Not the best brown but this one is better than their other offerings. Caramel and brown sugar with weak finish.

Geruch nach Malz und Zuckerrübenkraut. Geschmack relativ flach und leicht wässrig mit einem angemessen bitteren Nachgeschmack.

Tap @ pakhuis . Pours full , bit clear , dark brown & small white head . Smell is sweet , malty , chocolaty . Taste is bit bitter , some sweetness ( very light though ) and a sharp malty taste . Good carbonation . Too rhin for my taste for sure . Yet again , 5,5 is low abv for this kind of beer . It has got a nice tastepallate as well , subtile and elegant . Aftertaste is dark , sweet ( sugar or malts ? Thin line here ) and actually very good . One of the better ones i tasted from them . Would love a full bodied, 10 % - ish version of this one though cause this is simply to watery for my taste .

Geruch unauffällig. Kakaonoten, ein Tick Erdbeere. Seltsamer, nicht unangenehmer Nachgeschmack.

Backlog. Enjoyed at the brewery in 2008. Brown color. Aroma’s: sweet malts, caramel, roasted malts. Flavor is moderate sweet, caramellish. Body is light to medium. Not much of an aftertaste.
