UPDATED: SEP 10, 2017 Good balance of malt and hops in this one, the malt hits first and the hops a secondary, more solid flavour. Nice golden colour with a relatively creamy head.

330 ml bottle bought at Natually Good’s booth during HKTDC Food Expo 2017 at HKCEC, Wanchai.

Looks: Clear light amberOne quarter finger head with residual soapy white foam which fades in 30 seconds; Excellent sticky lacing with active slight carbonation.

Aroma: Fragrant Ale malt, with strong orange, passion fruits, strong caramel, toffee, floral, molasses, spices, pine, resin, dry biscuits, lemon and grass.

Taste: Close to light sweet full Ale malt, with strong Amberness, wheaty tartness, caramel, strong red fruits, strong grapefruits, floral, light molasses, spices, pine, resins, strong herbs, dry biscuits, strong lemon, mid to strong bitter hops and grass.

Body: Close to medium body. Slick palate.

Mouth Feel: Good strong Amber maltyness in a slick background. Still pretty rich - red fruity with strong caramel - despite the tart wheat-thin factor. Strong grapefruit hops and floral with fair sweetness. Spicy and very herbal, piney and quite oozy. Biscuity with strong lemon to round. Nice!

Hoppiness: Strong orange, passion fruits, floral, spices, pine, resin, lemon and grass in nose. Strong grapefruits, floral, spices, strong herbs, pine, resins strong lemon and grass in taste; Bitterness is quite strong for an a lasting, close to high-astringent bitter sweet Amber malty finish.

After Taste: Dry. Herbal red fruity and strong bitter to mouth.

Comments: The strong caramel and red fruits gives this one an unexpectedly strong Amber characters. Hop-wise it has decent semi-tropical fruit aroma and strong herbal citrusy taste closed out with pine and resin. A strong APA which stands tall. Recommended!

Aroma:biscuit and bread carry mandarin and a lot of lime, underwritten by grass. Taste is very spritzy, mandarin dominates the front and lime and slight passionfruit crash in at the back. Good carbonation and persistent 1 and a half finger head. Very well made.

Quite full on the nose yet smooth on the palate. Hops are not overly aggressive and the flavour linger on the palate.

UPDATED: JAN 17, 2015 A rich, full flavoured beer showcasing unique New Zealand hops. Because of this the balance is probably more towards an IPA...albeit of an antipodean slant.

Golden colour with a coarse and temporary white head. There is plenty of sparkle though and initial impressions are of a spritzy, lively and zesty beer. The aroma has mandarin all over it and it justifies its claim that it is a showcase for the Wai-iti hop. There is some lime peel there as well as golden caramel and biscuity hop. The flavours are a delicate balance of those zesty characters with the definite nod toward passionfruit. It is a charming and harmonious blend of tropical loveliness with a tangy bitter finish that just keeps on rewarding the drinker. Big like from me.
