Poured into a mug, the appearance was a dark copper/almost red color with a finger’s worth of white foaminess. Sly lacing.
The aroma has some toast, herbal qualities, caramel/toffee malts and a slight bready crispness.
The flavor leaned towards the combination of those previously mentioned aromas in a sweet sort of way. Nice herbal to nutty to caramel aftertaste with a subsiding finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Moderate carbonation and the ABV felt fine.
Overall, decent Irish red ale that I could see myself having again. hellbilly (3247) - scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA - JUL 23, 2012
tap 6/14/12 in gburg.
ruddy copper with a slight haze. no lasting head.
a+f are biscuit, caramel, herbal hops, a little earthy woodsiness and a touch of honey. a little muddy but tingly hops help. crisply carbonated. 6/3/6/3+/14 Cakes (461) - New Bloomfield, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 3, 2012
On tap, Camp Hill location. Pours a dark copper with a reddish tinge under a small creamy white head of decent retention. Aroma is sweet caramel malts under a light floral hoppiness. Flavor is a little thin, grassy hops up front with a finish that is lightly fruity. Mouthfeel is light bodied with an active carbonation. obxdude10 (2367) - Pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 17, 2012
Not one of the better Irish-style beers I’ve sampled. The Celtic Knot poured an amber color with almost no head at all. There was very little lacing and not a whole lot going on in the nose. The body and flavors are a bit bland, too. I tasted mostly semi-sweet malt and some bread flavors. The finish and aftertaste is a bit on the sour side.

Draft @ ABC, Harrisburg, PA. Pours a reddish amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty caramel aroma. Fruity malty caramel flavor with hoppy hints. Has a fruity malty caramel finish. Lubiere (14133) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - APR 29, 2011
A reddish amber ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, rather grainy malt wth boiled bean notes. In mouth, a nice nutty malt, very grassy, a bit of vegetable matter. On tap at brewery restaurant, April 10th, 2011. PapaSkeetSkeet (1010) - Providence, Rhode Island, USA - MAR 4, 2011
Deep, hazy amber with little head. Aroma is of strong soapy/malty yeast. Big yeast comes through up front in the flavor. Very Irish, borderline funky, flavorful. Old malt taste, slight soap. Precedes nutty maltiness. Light and drinkable. Cool. Steeeve (327) - Ambler, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 18, 2010
On tap. Deep red color with a thick tan head. Very pleasant aroma of toasted nuts. Clean finish with caramel and toffee flavors with just a hint of hoppiness. Similar to Jolly Scot but much more flavorful. BvilleBronc (85) - Biglerville, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 6, 2010
Growler poured into pilsner glass. More dark than red in color with a significant tannish head. Suprised by aroma of bittering hops. Taste is very balanced with a strong malt back and backend of the bittering hops. Nicely done for a seasonable, nothing over the top and very sessionable.
