Pint at ABC in Harrisburg. Pours a surprisingly brown color (looked orange on the menu) with a light, off white-head. Thought it combined the signature flavors of a stout and lager and not so much a marzen. Light-medium bodied. Again, combining the features of a lager and a stout. Not bad. morty99 (371) - Maryland, USA - SEP 10, 2002
Nice color, decent malty taste. Solid Marzen style beer..................... machfive55 (358) - Columbia, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 28, 2009
Poured a dark amber with little head, on draft at the brewery. Fairly malty beer with little hop presence, clean and pleasant malt character. Nice malty brew that is perfect for a fall day. andyhite (308) - Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA - OCT 2, 2007
bottle. pours dark ruby blended with mahogany. there was a head; yet it receded to a thin layer, a film with a few bubbles sitting atop the Maerzen. aromas - faint caramel (malts), slight lively notes of orange slices and brown sugar. dark, roasted vanilla bean and coffee notes on the flavor. it’s mellow, slghtly dark, and very drinkable. solid lingering finish. i dig it. no lack of flavor, and not too shabby on the finish. it’s worth a 6 pack or 2. i recommend. 2beerguys (299) - North Shore, Massachusetts, USA - FEB 14, 2007
Pours a dark amber color with a fast diminishing, fizzy light brown head. Fair lacing over a murky body. Aroma is of dark bread malts, with no other defining notes. Initial taste starts off with a bite, finishing with a bittersweet tang. Light on the mouth, it has a watery texture with light carbonation.

Dark copper pour, big dense head, with nice lace. Sweet fruit aroma. Thin mouthfeel with low carb, and a phlegmy bready sweetness. Finishes with a raisin fruity after. A Bit of sourness and candy sweetness. Not bad, maybe a tad old.

(abbreviated review, due to short notes) Very buttery and slightly nutty on the mouth. A little vinegary. warrior (213) - Mt. Wolf, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 24, 2003
Nice toasted malt aroma, clear amber orange color. Had a nice toasted malt flavor at first but it lingers on too long. The body was a little thin for a fest beer. A good fest that could use some more body and maybe a little less toasted malt. Duffbeer (192) - Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 25, 2002
It seemed a little different this year, than last. ........................ tidiaguy (168) - Hawley, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 3, 2003
Mild malt aroma, nothing stands out kinda plain. Good initial malt flavor but that was about it not much in the middle or finish. I think it could use a little hop flavor or something else to set it off. Not bad but just very plain.
