Murky dark brown color with aroma of caramel, dark fruit, chocolate, and candii sugar. Dark fruit and chocolate dominate flavor with candii sugar, roasted malt, and with hint of spice. Nice beer. snoworsummer (6067) - baltimore, Maryland, USA - JAN 5, 2014
Draft at the brewpub in Gettysburg. Pours medium/dark brown with a smooth, frothy, off white head. Tastes like bitter coffee and very sweet malt, syrup, caramel, and chocolate, with hints of raisin. Light/medium body and low carbonation. Smells like sweet dark fruits and toffee. sonnycheeba (6342) - Federal Hill, Baltimore, Maryland, USA - JAN 5, 2014

Draft 23-Apr-2012 in Collegeville. Poured ruby blackish with minimal head. Nose was funky yeasty malt, vinous fruit, some brown sugary and spicy notes. Tasted candi sugary and fruity, with yeasty, vinous, and dark fruits coupled with a nice complexity. One of the better beers from these guys.

Brown red color with a small, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark fruits, spices, caramel, light vanilla, and alcohol. Taste of spices, some dried fruits, sweeter malts, with dry, lightly alcoholic finish. DiarmaidBHK (5881) - Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 27, 2011
Pours a garnet color from tap with a thin head. Beautiful aroma of diesel. Taste is a bit thin for my taste. A few spice notes but they have a habit of running away and hiding. PapaSkeetSkeet (1010) - Providence, Rhode Island, USA - FEB 25, 2011
UPDATED: AUG 3, 2011 Pours chestnut brown (garnet when held up to the light), much brighter and somewhat less carbonated than the Montebello Dubbel it was presented with. Aroma is a refreshing wiff of rain water and slight raisin/prune. Flavor is boozy, raisin, restrained phenolic. Tasty - the best Belgian I’ve had here, but honestly, I still believe they are all in the phenolic category.
