Served on draft at the Gettysburg location. Pours a clear amber color with a medium head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel, berries and smoke. On tap, Harrisburg location. Pours a clear amber orange body with a small beige head. Nice smoky and heavy toffee malt on the nose with a bit of light roast coffee. The flavor is quite smoky and sweet, a great combo for my tastes. Nice heavy toffee malt, toasty, some burnt caramel, and a nice quaffable level of smokiness. Mouthfeel is full and fairly thick but not overly cloying or sticky. A little too fizzy on the carbonation maybe, but it’s not overly distracting. Very nice. On tap @ ABC Harrisburg. Deep amber/brown with a small tan head. Very smoky and roasty with a bit of spicy German hop and malt aromas. Had this on tap at the Brewery in Gettyburg and it compares really well to the one I had in Bamberg early this year. wow this was surprising really good. has a nice strong smoked element to it, with a nice malt kick, tastes like a really well smoked lager.

Had 2 of these at the Gettysburg brewpub. Poured a nice clear brown amber with minimal bubbly offwhite head. Aroma is roasted malts, slight caramel sweetness and a bit of booziness. Flavor is a nice balance of sweet toffee and roasted bitterness with a good layer of smokiness that adds to but does not overpower the taste. Slight alcohol warming presence. draft at brewpub- a nice example- not for everyone in terms of style choice, and this one kicks you at first with some liquidy smoke and bacon bbq pit smoke, but then it becomes a part of the beer rather than the predominant flavor- not a go to style for me, but not bad. Sampled at the ABC 11th Capital City Brew fest. Poured copper in color with a thin white head. Aroma is pretty subdued notes of lightly smoked malts, and bbq. Tastes of smoke, little bit of wood, with a nice malty base. Nicely carbonated, nice body. Very easy to drink. One of the highlights for me at the fest.
