A - Pours jet black with a tiny bit of tan film for a head leaving no lacing at all down the glass. It looks completely dead.
S - Smells of robust coffee, dark malts, vanilla, chocolate, and a very faint hint of earthy hops hiding in the shadows. The smell is the best part of this beer.
T - Starts off with a nice kick of fresh brewed coffee slowly giving way to a mix of vanilla and chocolate sweetness with some dark roasted malt helping to round out the sweetness. The body is extremely thin, which is really ruining all these good flavors. The finish has plenty of dark roasted flavors, lingering for some time. I liked the flavors this one had but the feel really brought it down.
M - Heavy body and flavor with moderate carbonation. The feel is very thin and really doesn’t help this one much. Plenty of dark roast in the finish.
O - I really wanted to like this one since the base beer is one of the only beers I like from ABC but I just can’t. The flavors were good but the dead look and watery feel ruined it.

Draft at the Collegeville brewpub. Pours pretty black with a small brown head that dissipates quickly. The aroma has a nice roasting, dark chocolate, a tiny nose of coffee grinds. The taste has a big bitterness, milk chocolate, a coffee bean finish. Best so far from here. coyforce (684) - California, USA - JUN 22, 2014

Pleasantly smoky and rich, subtle coffee notes. Really dark, and a decent interpretation of the style. Good. radio_nowhere (1472) - Maryland, USA - APR 20, 2013
