Draught at Q-Brick. Batch 2. Grass and citrus nose, light caramel malts. Copper with lace. Grass and sweat, minerals, light caramel malt backing. Very well balanced and smooth, oily body. Nice stuff. EdKing (2655) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 8, 2012
Half in Devilcraft, Shimbashi. Clear amber, medium white head. Would expect some haziness for an IPA. Nose is a big big Nelson Sauvin hop profile. Tropical fruit, pine citrous and what I call that smell of rain on freshly laid tarmac. Taste is big mouthfuls of tropical fruit, pine, citrous and yes, that rain on tarmac again. Balance is very nice with good body and malt back bone to carry the hop kick. This is very good. Wonder if it’s single hop? TimE (6164) - Tokyo, JAPAN - NOV 30, 2011
UPDATED: OCT 14, 2012 Definitive kiwi ipa. Beyond balanced, tons of Nelson sav, excellent backbone. Arguably a pale ale, but if that is the case, a new benchmark has been made. After coming back from NZ recently, I am very confident in saying this is a benchmark, or near a benchmark. Only 8wire can compete with this quality.
After having this many many times over the past 11 months, I can say the first batch was clearly the best and deserved the 4.0 rating. However, since then, this been has fluctuated between 3.0 and 3.6. it still should get credit for the first batch I tasted, but new rating reflects first rating and numerous other samples this year.
