Bottle 330ml. Almost black with a small off white head. ’More Black Eyed than PA’ was my first comment on the taste. Hops on the nose, but predominant flavour is roast, slightly smoky malt. A touch of dry hoppiness to finish.
Cask at the Hanging Bat. Pours deep brown, nose is pine, taste is roasted, fruity. laidbackbloke (59) - Warsaw, POLAND - MAY 5, 2014
Bottle. Little roasty aroma covered by the curtains of substantial hoppiness. Resin and grass scents of american hops. Jet black in color, with tiny flashes at the bottom of the snifter. Medium body, visibly slick, flows freely through the throat. Endless bitter ending. Reminds of the Black IPA brewed for the Freestyle Fridays. To some the hoppiness might be excruciating, but I enjoyed it. JohnRMurdoch (4830) - Glasgow, SCOTLAND - MAR 27, 2014
500ml bottle from Drinkmonger, Pitlochry. Almost black, big head. Pine hop aroma.Woody tar hop flavour. Smooth with bitter hoppy aftertaste. Not as sharp and intense as some black IPAs but still good. Garrold (5182) - Sheffield, South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - SEP 19, 2013
Bottle from Jug and Bottle, Bubwith. Dark ruby red. Beige, tight, creamy head. Looks good. Aroma is licorice with some coffee. The hops lend a decidedly minty element. Dark red fruit on top. Juicy, mouthwatering palate. Bitter, not overly dry finish. Liked it. Beese (2670) - Watford, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - JUL 22, 2013
Keg at the Euston Tap, London on 15 June. Dark beer with an off-white head. Hop aroma, which isn’t overpoweringly strong. Nice bitter taste with coffee and dark chocolate bitterness along. Palate loses some of the intensity, but is quite rounded.

Keg at the euston tap. Hazy caramel black very little cream head little lace. Aroma is sweet citrus hop very soft roast and a touch of mineral. Flavour is some sweet caramel lemon and peach. Very soft roast in the tail. Chalky palete. Assertive bitterness, but pretty low. Decent beer. Happily drink a few of these. johninmelb (1127) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - MAY 12, 2013
Intriguing nose with strong licorice notes freshened by zesty grapefruit hops. The flavour is intense - strong dark notes with coffee and chocolate at the front with a subtle back note of citrussy hops with some lime, some papaya and some orange peel. It lacks a little in the balance and there are better BIPAs out there - Thornbridge Raven for example stands out, as does Brewdog Libertine - but nevertheless this is a fine effort. Cask at Hanging Bat, Edinburgh. It pours darkest ruby with a medium light tan head. The nose is roasted malt, earth, liquorice, peppery and a touch of farmyard. The taste is roasted malt, coffee, pine, liquorice, varnish, bitter cocoa and scortched earth with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Pretty tasty. viktorvee (510) - Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 26, 2013
Stout like appearance. Minimal head, nice creamy mouth-feel. Blindfold you’d think this was an ipa without doubt. Some additional sweetness and minerality perhaps, but not much. Decent but not worth much of a detour allmyvinyl (10508) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - APR 20, 2013
Cask at the York Tap.Good blackness, thin white head, good lacing. Nose is hops, taste is more hops, but well balanced. Slightly sweet finish.
