A lot of thought has gone into this beer - we’ve been working on the recipe for well over a year! So, it started out as an Imperial Stout. How about a few oats? How about a hell of a lot of oats?! Some smoked malt maybe - just a little. All good so far. A few specialty German grains should round off the mash quite nicely. Then onto the boil. With our very own coffee roaster here in Bristol, it seemed a shame not to use them. We played around with a few samples from Brian Wogan Coffee and finally settled on some freshly roasted Brazilian Santos beans. Awesome coffee! Just needed something a bit chocolaty to finish it off. How about some chocolate? How about some organic raw cacao nibs?! Job done. Just a long slow fermenation and conditioning period and the result is outstanding.

568ml bottle. Pours very dark brown with a stable tan head. Tons of coffee on the nose, dark chocolate, roast malts. Taste is similarly strong on the coffee and sweet dark chocolate, hints of dark fruits, lactose, bitter roasted malts on the finish. Medium body, smooth creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. An excellent stout.

568 ml bottle sourced from a colleague in London! Thank you dear! It pours black, with a medium, intense, beige head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, red berries, notes of vanilla, lactose. Taste is medium sweet. Body is medium to full, carbonation is flat. Overall not bad but I was expecting something more in taste...

UPDATED: JUL 23, 2017 Bottiglia 50cl, nera opaca con schiuma fine color nocciola. Malto tostato, caffè, cioccolato, corpo medio solido, una stout interessantissima.

Appearance- pretty much black, opaque, a small beige head which quickly disappears. Aroma- lots of milk chocolate, rich coffee, toffee, fudge cake, cocoa powder, hints of vanilla, chocolate malt. Taste- lots of milk chocolate, cocoa powder, mixed with dusty roast coffee, chocolate fudge cake, roasted dark malt, sweet malt comes through towards the finish. Mouthfeel is full, the oat presence is very noticeable. Bittersweet moreish finish. Very good.

CacheManyHose (791) - HONG KONG - JUL 16, 2017
Pours an opaque brown-black with almost no head - tiny bit of tan fizz that fades. Lots of dark roast coffee, baking chocolate, biscuity sweet lightly syrupy lactose. Warming booze. Body has very dark roast acidity and light chocolate sweetness, but also a chalkiness/bicarbonate, faintly grassy with a boozy bite.

HKdIPA (878) - HONG KONG - JUL 16, 2017
Bottle from Brewcraft at home with shakshuka for lunch. Dark black pour, fine tan head. Aroma is coffee and roasted chocolate with some dark booziness. Taste is quite bitter raw chocolate with some coffee and booze. Palate a bit chalky unfortunately. Otherwise a very solid breakfast stout.
