Bottle shared by a friend. Pours dark brown with a medium tan head. Aroma of malt, chocolate and infection. Malt and band-aid flavor with a sour finish. joshwoodward (575) - - JUN 22, 2014
Had a glass of this from a bottle at the Arbor Brewing Company sours & fruits tasting. Didn’t take formal notes. Pepper, spicy, dark. Mittenator (1612) - Michigan, USA - MAR 2, 2014
Firkin sample at MiWBF 14. I was a bit disappointed in this. Didn’t get a lot from the cocoa nibs and the pepper was a little heavy at the end. A bit of a gritty mouthfeel. rumproasts (5573) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - MAR 1, 2014
tap. Near black with small head. Thick stout with some coffee and bourbon barrel. I also pick up some strange pepperiness that makes more sense now that I see the reference to Chipotle peppers. I’ve had a lot better barrel aged stouts. alliance100 (1159) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - FEB 26, 2014
Draft at Logan's Alley - pours a murky dark brown . Some faint bourbon aromas but mostly espresso and chilies . Medium pepper spice with Italian espresso . Pretty good .

Chocolate, coffee, aroma that is quite complex. However this does not match the taste that is quite sour. Not so tasty. jcartamdg (3520) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 20, 2012
Pours dark black with a aroma of peppers and roast. Taste is tart and roasty. The peppers shine forth. Tart yet spicy. Interesting. Not bad.

Bottled provided by jale. Thanks, Jim!
Pours a very dark brown color with a half-finger of mocha head and a few bubbles on top as it goes down. The nose brought a lot of roast character and coffee. Nothing too extreme, but it worked out quite well.
The flavor added in a few other components, with the chipotle becoming present here along with a touch of chocolate. The roast character is still prominent along with the coffee. The feel is where the chipotle really comes in, bringing a spicy note that I didn’t really feel complemented the all flavors all that well in its extremity. Toning it down a bit would definitely help blend the flavors quite a bit more.

Bottle thanks to Jale...Pours an ugly dark brown, amber hints. Light tan head doesn’t show me much...Aroma of chocolate, and a little chipotle heat, not much going on...The taste is just wrong, this is more of the aroma but not a good combination for some reason. I didn’t drink much of this, nor did the 7 other of us as there was still half a bottle left at the end of the night.
