Oatmeal and 20 pounds of fresh roasted coffee from the Ugly Mug Cafe contribute to a mildly chalky espresso character balanced by a rich, sweet, creamy maltiness. coffee finish dissolves into chocolate with a slight roasty bitterness. Brewed with 100% fair-trade coffee from the Ugly Mug Caf and Roastery in Ypsilanti, MI. Pairs well with desserts, especially dark chocolate, raspberries, and cheesecake.

pretty basic for a coffee stout..aroma of fresh-brewed coffee and chocolate..flavor is a muted, watered down version of what i expected from the aroma...a tad thin and oddly sour...not bad, but a step below its competition

smells good. looks good. tastes like crap. aroma is that of a nice cup of strong coffee from your local bistro....flavor is that of truck stop sludge that has been left on the burner to ferment. my wife loves it off tap, but bottle is definately not my thing.

Thanks for sharing SoLan. The initial aroma is sweet coffee and a decent roastiness. The flavor is simply unbearable for me, there is an off putting acidity that reminds me of coffee that has been allowed to sit for far too long. Simply not my thing.

Courtesy Styles. Dark brown/black with a quickly disappearing, small tan head. Aroma of fresh roasted coffee, bittersweet roasted malt, and a bit of an acidic twang. Acidity takes over the flavor and not in a good way. The malt and the coffee take a back seat. Medium body, carbonation is just a bit less than balanced. The aidity is overpowering.

12 oz. bottle. Poured a dark brown color with no head at all. The aroma on this was amazing... fantastic coffee, with a little malt, as well. Unfortunately, the rest wasnt so good. The flavor was sour, kind of tart, and just not good at all. Add to that this had almost no carbination. Disappointing, because the aroma has you believing it will be fantastic.

Bottle. An explosion of foam right out of the gates makes me wonder a little about whether this is spoiled or not. It covers a blackish body (and the floor of the kitchen) and releases coffee and roasty aromas. There is also a bit of smoke and peat. Flavor has a bit of a sourness to it (maybe not the freshest bottle?) but is not completely gone, and I kind of like the mixture of sour and stout notes. There is also a bit of a sweetness to it (vanilla & cream?). I think Ill have to try this again later.

Aroma is of a rich cup of coffee, A hint of roasted malt. Touch of vanilla and a slight hint of chocolate. Smell made my mouth water.... smells delicious! Poured a black with a very small and fast dissipating tan head. Very, very light lacing on Pint. Flavor is of rich coffee, light touch of vanilla, light hint of dark chocolate, slightly bitter roasted malt ending in a rich coffee.Very pleasant! taste. Not overpowering, but very nice! Body is medium, a creamy texture, soft carbonation, with a short, pleasantly bitter finish. Im not usually a big fan of coffee dominated stouts, but this is well done! I really enjoyed this Stout and will definitely drink again. The only thing wrong with this fine brew is the very soft carbonation and the lack of a great head on it. But, the excellent taste and balance of this Stout more than makes up for it. Not in my favorite rotation, but will definitely drink this often! Give it a try! Its worth the experience! Great job by Arbor!!!

Thanks dra19. The color was dark chocolate. The head was thick, fizzy, and medium tan. The aroma was coffee malt, roast, citris, sweet malt, and chocolate. The flavor was coffee, citris, tart, and roast. The palate was average. The finish was clean.

Thanks dra19. Pours a dark thin brew with a profuse creamy tan head. Acted bottle conditioned. The head broke down incredibly easily. The aroma is roasty, coffee, chocolate, swirling releases a lot of carbonation. The flavor is smooth, roasty, kind of sour, coffee, a bit thin in the mouth, sweet, has some interesting qualities. The palate is a bit thin and very carbonated. Interesting brew, I enjoyed it.

sample at brewpub. Pours solid black. Tastes of coffee beans and roasted malts. Not bad, but a little thin.
