COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Jackhammer is a very dark brown ale with a nice reddish hue. Offering a welcome warming sensation, it has a rich malty sweetness. Fruity esters, expected in this style beer, add to the already complex palate and help to provide an immensely satisfying experience!

On tap at brewery. Deep red pour. Didn’t get the advertised "chocolate covered cherry," but did get elements of tart booze as it warmed.

Bottle picked up at Tiffany’s in Kalamazoo. Pours a dark brown with ruby highlights on the edges, about a finger of khaki head, nice lines of lace. Nose is sweet caramel and dark fruits. Tastes sweet, a little bit of boozy bite, softness in the mouth, vanilla too. Decent.

rumproasts (5356) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - AUG 5, 2013
bottle. Amber brown with one finger head. Mild malt, very smooth and sweet. I’ve only had a few old ales that really I appreciated, but this is definitely one.

Deep brown with a red hue. Aroma is chocolate, dark fruit and nuts. A smooth and rich beer, with some nuttiness, and sweetness. and mild fruit flavours. Alcohol very well hidden. It’s an interesting beer, but not mind blowing.

Very black, no head. Rich chocolate, dried fruit, gingerbread and spice on the nose. Strong palate, a little hot, with hot cocoa, cream and baking spice flavors. Tasty. Definitely a winter warmer.

Rich and malty old ale. Matl comes in with some cocoa, very fruity though, the alcohol isn’t too over the top.

deyholla (11597) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - NOV 22, 2011
Sampled from the tap at corner brewery. Poured a deep hazy amber with a white head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has notes of sweet grains with underlying notes of light fruit and a hint of caramel. Flavor starts with sweet grains and light fruits, but finishes with caramel and a bit of booze.

3.5
cubs (10635) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - NOV 16, 2011
Bottle in Detroit. Caramel brown appearance with a tan head. Dark caramel, chocolate, slight toffee aroma. Rich toffee, thick caramel, dark chocolate, slightly nutty flavor with a touch of booziness on the finish.
