On tap at the pub. Dark ruby brown colored with a little head. Aroma of some light caramel, molasses, dark fruits, and a little hops. beerbuzzmontreal (3487) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 2, 2007
The pour reveals a clear amber color with a ring of white lace. Aroma and flavor of hops, fruits and alcohol. The palate is light and liquorous and the carbonation is moderate. It’s not bad but somehow it failed to captivate me. spector (906) - Lancaster, Ohio, USA - DEC 23, 2006

Draught sample at the brewpub, early August 2006. From the opaque caramel body rises a creamy, lasting off-white head....the nose is invited to partake in a raisiny-figgy caramelized malty aroma, dried fruits and a touch of mustiness enhancing the delight....on the tongue, a thick melange of vanilla, dried fruits and highly tannic strong wine....creamy and thick without being syrupy, the vanilla-oaky sweetness grows with warmth....luscious, elegant and complex without quite ascending to mastery, but still a worthwhle endeavour. heemer77 (5358) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - JUN 5, 2006
Served in a cool dimpled mug at the brewpub. The body was dark copper with a slightly off white head. The aroma was short bread cookies with some mango. The taste was lots of caramel with hints of grapefruit. There was also some sharp mango fruit type character. Lots of apparent alcohol. Good stuff. auerbrau (3203) - Ithaca, New York, USA - JAN 18, 2006
Pours a cloudy brown/amber/orange with opalescense. Light bready fruit with cherries, bourbon and lime in the aroma. Flavor is a warm alchol, yet still some thickness and not too much depth. Fruit, with a touch of chocolate, maybe some pears. Almost aged like. But overall, restrained alcohol and malt. Not much complex characterisitics. Straightforward and drinkable. Finish is sweet, with a light hoppy dryness. BBB63 (6557) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - JUL 24, 2005

Reddish hazy hue with a small tan head. The aroma is malty with notes of maple, caramel, strawberry, herbal hops, and a bit oxidized. The taste starts salty and musty. Caramelized malt supports the twangy apple and cider character, light bitterness as well. A bit of non-aromatic pipe tobacco and a pinch of salt in the finish. The feel is sticky and full with a biting finish. Overall it is a nice beer but lacks a completeness and enjoyment factor I want in my English Olde Ales.
Pitcher at ABC tasting. Sweet malt aroma and flavor with a little hop bitterness at the end. Easy drink just lacks in categories.
