COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Jackhammer is a very dark brown ale with a nice reddish hue. Offering a welcome warming sensation, it has a rich malty sweetness. Fruity esters, expected in this style beer, add to the already complex palate and help to provide an immensely satisfying experience!

12 oz. bottle from DrSilverworm - thanks, Chris! Pours a mahogany color, not quite opaque, with a small khaki ring that settles into a thin ring. Notes of toasted and chocolate malts, tobacco, earth, dark dried fruits, and a hint of mellow roast. Medium-bodied, with low to moderate carbonation and a smooth, earthy, malty mouthfeel. Best I’ve had from them.

sweet caramelly/hoppy aroma, dark red with no head, medicinal hoppiness, very earthy and mossy with lingering sticky bitterness

3fourths (9381) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JAN 4, 2008
UPDATED: APR 5, 2013 Dark purple. Medium sweet plum and Chianti with cherry flavored malts up front turning more towards some bitter but fresh resinous, oily hops. Sweet but decently balanced. Only complaint would be that it doesn’t stand out, and it’s not decadent enough to stand on it’s own as a mellow, soft old ale.

RHSpartan (6) - troy, Michigan, USA - SEP 29, 2009 does not count
Pours a deep hazy brown with a very thin cream head. Faint smell of chocolate and toffee. Slight esters. Chocolate and caramel malts dominate flavor with roasted notes. Alcoholic finish. Medium mouthfeel. Slight hop flavor. A decent, if unspectacular beer.

draft... nice looking beer, good dark mahogany color... the aroma is pretty plain but some nice taste, solid

smroush (311) - Michigan, USA - JAN 21, 2016
Dark brown color; dark enough that it’s hard to tell if it’s clear or cloudy; sparse light tan head. Aroma is malty, mostly bread and a touch of caramel. Hops are pretty subdued. Sweet with mild bitterness. Medium bodied; slightly oily texture; average to just a bit soft carbonation; finish is moderate length, sweet and bready. Overall it’s not bad, but pretty sweet and simple.
